Maybe some people might not like that, but have you ever bought something super expensive before that you didn't mean to? For example diamond ore. (Personly i like it better that way, so you don't spend your money on something you didn't mean to buy.)

No, you just have to stand further back from the sign. I'm able to buy from signs with items in my hand if there is at least a full block between me and the block of space the sign is in.

Mogjmand is having some trouble selling items. First he tried micah's shop, then I let him try mine. He even emptied his hand and still got the message "Sign locked with a magical spell." I'm not sure if it's him, my sign, I don't know.

Sometimes this is caused if the b or s is not captalized

I didn't think the capitalization of the b or s mattered... try having the player stand farther back, and make sure he has some money in his account.

You cna right click with a PickAxe or any Tool and it should work. It works for me...
