Plea to be unbanned
« Opened on October 06, 2019, 07:19:32 PM »
Hello,

My son was banned this evening from Famcraft and he is devastated because he loved Famcraft and the environment that you have created.  What is even more upsetting to him is that he is unclear why he was banned.  We went over the rules before he ever started playing Famcraft and we re-reviewed them now to see if there was anything that he could think that he did wrong.  He is completely confused as to why he was banned.

I tried to help him figure it out, so we discussed what had occurred prior to being banned.  He explained he was building a skeleton grinder (we don't think this is an issue based on the rules).  In addition, before this, he was trying to join games but when he did, it glitched and kicked him out - this happened several times.  It was happening to other people as well.  In chat he wrote "shesh"...meaning "sheesh".  The only thing he can think of is that someone misinterpreted and thought he was trying to curse - he was absolutely not trying to curse.  He was simply expressing frustration using a non-curse word.

Please help us understand what he did incorrectly.  We would greatly appreciate it if you gave him another opportunity to show you he is the type of player that Famcraft was designed for - kind, respectful, helpful and very creative.

Thank you for developing a server that keep kids safe and let them have fun.  I appreciate the rules that you have set up, and we very much want to follow them.  Please help us understand how we haven't.

Thank you,
Vera (concerned mother)

Hello Vera, your son was banned for mentioning a reference to a mature-rated game on more than one occasion. The first time, the chat was cleared and he was warned with this message:

Quote
00:40 <@Kealper> ^pg
00:40 <@AuBot> [180] ^pg:  Please do not mention games, movies, shows, or books that are above a PG or equivalent rating. We would like to keep Famcraft as family-friendly as possible, as people of all ages play here, and what you mention may not be appropriate for their age! Thank you for understanding <3

Ideally, if a banned player is capable of communicating on their own, we do prefer that the player themselves write their own plea to be unbanned, as we feel it helps us ensure they understand the problem and that it won't be an issue in the future.
