Connection lost error

From time to time I have been getting a connection lost internal exception java.net.socket timeoutexception:
Since yesterday I have been getting it non-stop and now can not log on.

I have updated java,
downloaded new copy of mine craft
restarted computer
restarted modem

I have speed tested ISP and get 6 Mbs upload 2Mbs download
nothing is working.

I would appreciated any help.

To start,  i dont know this error, so i can only give some generic comments here.

- Do you have enough ram and such ? you can always provide extra info trough Dxdiag (Start -> write "Dxdiag" -> save to txt file)

- Did you try a Clean java install? so first remove all java, and than clean install it again ?

Rundrop:
Did you try deleting all your minecraft files then reinstalling them?

micahdg:
If you're using wifi to play, try connecting to ethernet.
