I did look at it, wait, is it not hollow? I guess that explains the low guess...

Well that's that. the tree has been cut and the official log count is 753. While nobody got the number "exactly" right, ~vespa got the closest with a guess of 741.  For his prize I will give him the 5K game coins that was going to go to whoever guessed the number exactly.
