Famcraft Tutorials, Links and Info / Introducing... Famcraft Parkour!
« on: November 22, 2014, 12:36:03 AM »
We would like to offer a very special thank you to our very own SrMod.~Rowan (mathfreak2) who has spent the past several weeks working on this massive project!  8)

Rowan has assembled a total of 24 different parkour courses ranging in difficulty from very easy  to nearly impossible. Each course offers it's own unique set of challenges.

You'll find the brand new parkour lobby conveniently located at ... you guessed it! /warp parkour It is also available via the "Attractions" StarGate at /warp sg.

As per Rowan's request you'll even find some free golden apples in the parkour lobby to help increase your odds of surviving some of the more difficult maps. (*Apples do not carry back to the main world. Parkour has a separate inventory so you do not lose items.) Good luck! Check it out today!

General Discussion / Famcraft Snowflake Event!
« on: November 18, 2014, 02:00:47 AM »
It's snowing on Famcraft- and YOU can help!

Famcrafter's are as varied as unique as wonderful wintery snowflakes! We are asking YOU to help us make it snow! We have a special area set up through a limited-time StarGate at /warp SG, or via /warp snowflakes. This region includes the ability to FLY so you can build way up high in the air :D *Note: You will NOT be able to place on the ground- only in the air.

We need Famcrafter's to help build beautiful snowflakes. As a thank-you for your help, everyone who participates will get to wear a single white snowflake after their name, all throughout the winter holiday season! A few random creations may be selected for display at /spawn <3

Participation is easy and the rules are simple!

1.) Tell an Admin you would like to participate! You can post in this thread, contact and Admin in game, or submit a help request here: http://tools.famcraft.com/request-an-admin/

2.) Visit /warp SG and take the gate on the right OR go directly to /warp snowflakes

3.) Read the rules posted there

4.) Collect your supplies :o (Read the signs!)

5.) Build a snowflake! :D *Snowflakes ONLY - ONE per player, please
Feel free to build off of a free, clear glass block. Do NOT build off of other player's snowflakes.

6.) Place a sign with your name on your snowflake if you like.

7.) Make sure not to leave any chests/extra supplies behind.

*This is NOT a contest. No prizes will be given. This is strictly a for-fun event.

General Discussion / Microsoft is buying Mojang
« on: September 16, 2014, 01:31:38 PM »
Microsoft is buying Mojang, and we are 100% okay with this. This has no immediate impact on Famcraft, and we would rather not see it discussed on the server at all. If you feel you must discuss it, please keep it in this thread.

Some things to keep in mind:
2.5 billion dollars is a lot of money. That's more money than some entire countries have! Microsoft would not want to lose that sort of money by changing the core of what makes Minecraft so magical.
Official channels have stated that as of right now, there's no plans whatsoever to change Minecraft's formula for success. This means that all supported systems (Windows/Linux/Mac, Android/iOS, Xbox/PlayStation, etc) will continue as they always have.
Modding, both server-side and client-side, has always been a part of Minecraft and Microsoft already understands this. There are currently no plans to put an end to modding, either. Modding will continue to stay the same as it has been.
The core development team for Minecraft has not changed, they are still hard at work on Minecraft. If you are concerned about the people who are leaving Mojang, they either have no been actively involved in the development of Minecraft in a long time, or have not been involved at all.

Famcraft Tutorials, Links and Info / Clan Ranks
« on: August 02, 2014, 05:13:49 PM »
As a clan leader, you can create custom ranks for your clan. Different ranks can have different permissions.

If you do not assign permissions to a rank, the rank will only provide the tag in front of a players name, but no additional rights or privileges within the clan.

The command used to create a rank is as follows:

/rank create [priority] [TAG] [Name]

/rank create [priority- can be any number] [Tag for Rank] <-best if these two match - do not use color coding -->[Name for Rank]

 For example:

/rank create 10 Builder Builder

Will create a rank called Builder

To assign this rank

/rank assign playername Builder

If you assign this rank you a player, when in clan chat, the word "Builder" will appear before his name. This is the only thing that will change about this clan member.

 __

By default, only clan leaders can invite other players to join your clan. However, it is possible to create a rank of trusted clan members who are able to invite players to join your clan, without being leaders.

To create this rank, you would need to create the rank, then add the permission.

For example:

Create the rank:

/clan create 10 Greeter Greeter

Add the permission to the rank:

/rank setperm Greeter manage.invites

Assign the rank to a clan member

/rank assign playername Greeter

This clan member can now send clan invitations to players, even though they are not a leader.

________

By default, NO clan member, including the clan leader has access to withdraw clan bank funds.

In order to be able to withdraw funds from the clan bank, a rank must be created and the proper permission must be added. There is a slight bug with the plugin that requires this permission to be added, and then removed in order for it to work properly.

For example:

Create the rank:

/clan create 10 Banker Banker

Add the permission to the rank:

/rank setperm Banker bank.withdraw

Remove the permission to finalize the /setperm (I know, I know, just trust me)

/rank removeperm Banker bank.withdraw

Assign the rank to a clan member

/rank assign playername Banker

Remember to assign this rank to yourself, and other leaders as well if you wish to have access to withdraw money from your clan bank to use for clan projects.

Any clan member you assign this rank to will be able to withdraw money from the clan bank at any time. Choose the clan members you wish to have this rank carefully.

At any time a clan leader needs to remove a rank from a clan member, the command is:

/rank unassign [player] [rank]

General Discussion / **Famcraft EULA Compliance Announcement**
« on: July 29, 2014, 06:45:26 PM »
We are happy to announce that by August 1st, 2014 Famcraft will be full EULA compliant! :D

This means, as of Aug 1st, all Famcraft players, regardless of irl funds donation status, will have the option to purchase past donor items and permissions in game, with Famcoins!
(*This does not apply to cosmetic perks such as dark green names, nicknames, and /hat)

The way this works will be very simple! :D

"Specialty Shop" (formerly called the "Donor Shop") access will be available for purchase in game for 1 Million Famcoins. Specialty Shop access will NO LONGER be available for cash donations. Famcoins will be the ONLY way to gain access. ALL players who already have access to the "Specialty Shop" from past irl money donations will of course still have access.

If a player purchases Specialty Shop access with Famcoins, their name will appear in light green, as usual, but in (round brackets). This will let the Admin team know you are entitled to free and discounted WE services.
(*You will always have the option of removing the round brackets, and having a dark green name by donating $5 USD or more to Famcraft.)

Once you've gained "Specialty Shop" access, you will be able to use the AdminShops there to purchase many different items, including items that were offered only as donation rewards in the past.

Some other items you can find at the shop are hard-to-find or creative only items. The shop also carries most mob eggs, and the special Mojang player skulls.

Special permissions such as additional /sethome and the /fly command can also be purchased thru the "Specialty Shop", by contacting an Admin once you have enough Famcoins.

We are aware some of the prices at the Speciality Shop are quite high. These prices are not up for debate.
Please do not forget, donators of the past who helped support Famcraft had to pay actual irl money for access to these items. We are making every effort to  keep things balanced and fair for donators and non-donators alike.

Here are some examples of what you will find in the new EULA Compliance section of the "Specialty Shop".

These following items are 50k Famcoins each:

The following items are 3 million Famcoins each:

*The following items are 5 million Famcoins each:

*/Fly is 100 million Famcoins

Thank you for your patience as we adjust to these changes to our donations system.

To help with these chages we have

-Added a 4th job slot, so you can have more jobs to help you earn money
-Made /back 500 Famcoins for everyone (Instead of 1000 Famcoins)
-Raised your free daily allowance to 1000 coins per day, at /warp money

We hope to announce new EULA compliant donor rewards in the near future. Thank you for your support.

There has been a great deal of discussion about the EULA and what it will mean for servers like ours. We would like to take this opportunity to explain and clarify, and help the Famcraft community understand what all the EULA entails.

What does EULA mean?

EULA stands for End User License Agreement.

Since when did we "agree" to anything!?

When the server was set up, the EULA was agreed to. You agreed to the same things when you installed Minecraft on your computer :O

Most of the time, when you install any software, you will be expected to agree to the EULA of that particular product. You know all that stuff you skip really quick when you are in a hurry to install stuff? Clicking "I agree" and then "next" lol. Yep, it's usually in there somewhere.

How dare Mojang come up with all this brand new EULA stuff to hurt servers!

This one is simple, they didn't. First of all, this stuff isn't new. And they didn't do anything to hurt anyone. The EULA has always been in place, possibly with minor updates here and there, as needed. The EULA exists to protect their product.

The EULA it's self is not new. All that is new is Mojang's clarification of it. And they did not even have to do that. They did that to help servers be able to follow the rules.

Think of it kind of like if Famcraft always had the rule "No spam." But we never actually explained how we define "spam" here on Famcraft. You might be breaking the rules, and not even know it! D: But at /spawn, and on the forum, there are examples of "spam". And at the end of the rule wall at spawn, there is a [Lift Down] with even more details about the rules :o
This is what Mojang has done for us. They have given us more details about their rules. This is a GOOD thing. It matters to us to follow the rules. Knowing what is expected of us helps us do that. :D

And.. think about it, if you came up with a great product, game or idea, you would want to protect it too. We're happy Mojang is protecting its software. We all enjoy this game, and it's nice to see a good company profit from their work. :D

Well, okay then, but where can I read this EULA we all agreed to?

Right here: https://account.mojang.com/documents/minecraft_eula

So what happens now? Will Famcraft crash and burn? :(

Nope! Famcraft will be right here, same as always. The only difference will be the donation system, and possibly some other small/good in game changes. :)

But, but... I'm scared of change. :( Can you at least give me an example of what you mean by in game changes?

Well.. okay, since you asked nicely. Some changes are... most donor items will become available for purchase in game with Famcoins :O These items will be expensive, so to help you save up, we may make minor changes like 500 coin /back for everyone! (that has always been a donor perk at $30!) Not until Aug 1st! lol. But yes, not all changes are scary. Some changes are just plain good. :D

So, what's the bad news then? I thought this was a bad thing?

This is only a bad thing if we make it a bad thing- which, we won't. :D The main thing about this that will take a little getting used to is the fact that absolutely no picks, armor, or tools of any kind, and no non-cosmetic permissions or perks like /fly will be available for cash donations. They will be available for Famcoins, in game- but they will be expensive.

Famcoins only? Expensive? I don't  get very much playtime. I may never be able to afford some of the more expensive perks. :(

Don't worry! Famcraft is fun without any extra frills at all. The items and perks are fun to think about, and something nice to work towards, but not having those items will not make Famcraft any less fun. We still have a lot of great things to do here, and a wonderful community to interact with. We hope you'll continue to make the most of your time on the server. :D

Okay, I understand everything so far. But what exactly did Mojang say that has us making all these changes?

In reply below, we will post exactly what Mojang said. Mojang's words will be in black text. What those words mean to us here at Famcraft will be in red text, to help make things easier to see and understand.

Famcraft Tutorials, Links and Info / Player owned mall shop evictions
« on: July 18, 2014, 02:53:04 PM »
I thought this needed it's own post :D'

How to evict a player from a player owned mall

* Verify that the player has not been online/active in a while, or their shop appears abandoned. (* Hint, try the /saw command)

*Post a sign at the entrance of the shop stating that the shop owner is being evicted if there is no contact in "_"  days. Somewhere from 3-7 days should be reasonable for active players.

*Send in game mail with a similar message. /mail send [playername] Today is 7/9/14. Your mall shop at my mall will be closed in 3 days if I do not hear from you. Thx.

*If the player replies, as them to remove their items from your mall.

*After the allotted time has passed, if no response from the player, please contact an admin for proper removal of the players  items. You can contact us using the Admin Help Request form if we are not online. We will get to it as soon as reasonably possible:

(For the record, we pack their things up, and drop them off at their home in a locked chest, even banned players.)

Famcraft Tutorials, Links and Info / DeathChest Changes
« on: July 17, 2014, 11:45:12 PM »
Dear Famcrafters,

This message is being sent to all Famcrafter's who currently have access to the DeathChest Plugin.
The features of this plugin are being altered to remove the bedrock gravestone option. From this point onward, all DeathChest users will need to be sure they have created a DeathChest chest, for their items to be placed in upon their death.
You can have one DeathChest per world. This includes the main Overworld, the End, and the Nether, as well as the EnderEstates World.
To create a DeathChest, place a chest (single, double, standard chest) and place a sign directly above the chest. On the TOP line of the sign, simply type [DeathChest] in square brackets. You will see a message that says  "Deathchest created for world:[world]"
After the creation of your DeathChest, any time you die, your items will be automatically deposited into the chest for you. If you fear running out of space, you can expand your DeathChest storage space with hoppers, and additional chests.
Thank you for your contribution to Famcraft. We look forward to seeing you on the server.   -The Admin Team

Rules / Mumble Rules
« on: July 16, 2014, 03:41:31 PM »
Mumble Rules

**NEVER Log into the Famcraft Mumble with ANY NAME intended to represent any other player, staff member, celebrity, entity, or anyone else at all, other than YOURSELF - We DO ban from the Mumble server, and from the survival server for breaking this rule**

1 - No trying to hijack conversations in Mumble.

Degrading other players' conversations, or drastically changing the subject to intentionally steal focus from the original player's topic is not allowed. You are welcome to join in on the conversation, just don't try to run your own show. Remember, you are communicating with players who are still trying to actively play in game, too.
Also, if a staff member is assisting another player in game, please do not demand that staff member focus their attention on you in mumble. While our players on mumble do matter very much to us, we must assist those players needing help in the game, first.
Be wary of your behavior on Mumble, make sure you follow the rules. We pay attention. There is no statute of limitations on punishing players. Enjoy the Famcraft Mumble knowing these rules will help provide you with a safe and fun forum experience.

2 - No Deliberate mispronunciation of words or use of abbreviations to slip swearing or other inappropriate words into Mumble conversations. This includes making innuendo or attempting to alter the context of something someone else has said to make it seem inappropriate when it was not intended as such.

3 - Abusive, racist, sexual, drug-related, belligerent, political, anti-political, religious, anti-religious, and inflammatory chat is not allowed in conversation, links or nick/screen names or Mumble comments.  Famcraft is all about Minecraft, not your beliefs or lack of beliefs. These restrictions include a ban on any speech or actions that are commonly considered inappropriate when directed toward children. Among other reasons but mostly because we allow people of all ages to play on Famcraft and post on Famcraft.com, we have zero tolerance for any attempted exploitation of children.

4 - Trading, linking to, or discussing illegal material (games, software, movies, etc.) is not allowed. This includes linking to sites, that link to other sites that include this sort of thing.

5 - Do not discuss other servers while using any of Famcraft's services, including Mumble. That includes talking bad about other servers, too. While we appreciate players wanting to share their experiences from other servers, many new players join the server only to advertise their own server. Devious players we punish for breaking other rules often try to advertise other servers to draw people away from Famcraft out of spite. Due to these types of examples, we don't allow discussion of any other server while in-game, on Mumble, or in our forums.

6 - No discussion, even on Mumble, of any client modifications that could be used to cheat on Famcraft. Cheating includes such activities as flying when not allowed, placing multiple blocks with one action, speed walking, and seeing through blocks. Two specific client mods which are allowed (and recommended) are Rei's Minimap and Optifine.
   - Rei's Minimap: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/482147-
   - Optifine: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/249637-
   - We also recommend Magic Launcher for easily installing the above mods: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/939149-
   - You may use many other client mods but we can't make a complete list of them. Acceptable client mods include most minimaps, inventory tweak/sorting, and others that do not give you a competitive advantage over other players. If you are unsure about whether a mod is safe to use here, just ask a staff member about it and they'll be glad to help.

7 - Harassment of other players is not allowed. This means name-calling, being  degrading, aggressive, making rude or otherwise unnecessary/inappropriate comments or being insulting or hurtful in any way is NOT allowed. This includes sending rude/spammy Mumble private messages.

8 - Persistent hassling of Staff members for anything is not allowed. This includes excessive/spammy Mumble private messages.

9 - Spamming on Mumble is not allowed in public chat OR by private message. This includes text spam, text spam intended to activate someone's text to speech, and audible spam such as loud background music, or intentionally speaking, squealing, screeching, shrieking, screaming, yelling, laughing, singing or making any other sound intended to disrupt conversation.

10 - Do not ask to become a staff member on Mumble. Speaking directly with us in voice chat does not make you any more likely to be asked to join the staff team, and is still breaking the rules. We also do not need players for Mumble staff. Server staff is also Mumble staff. We never ask players on Mumble  to help moderate the Mumble channel.

11 - English is the official language on Famcraft. We have players from all around the world and English is the most common language among them, so please use only English in public conversation on Mumble. You may use other languages in private conversations on Mumble.

12 - Player vs. player friendly playful debate is allowed on the Mumble. (Example: Melons vs Pumpkins, or what is the best block in Minecraft, What type of pizza is best) It is okay to express your views and differing opinions on family friendly topics such as sports or  appropriately rated games, movies and music. In these conversations, please always remember to use a polite and friendly tone, and never be degrading of another players opinions or experiences.

Additional notes:

You are responsible for your own Mumble account. If your account breaks the rules, we will punish you and the account. NEVER Log into Mumble using ANY other persons name. You must always be recognizable as the in game name we know you by.

These rules can change at any time. Please make sure you check them frequently to keep up to date. Staff members are expected to have them memorized.

To prevent players circumventing punishments they have been given, we ask that players do not use multiple Mumble accounts on the Famcraft Mumble, unless necessary to connect from different devices. Even then, your name should make it apparent who you are. If you're found to be using multiple Mumble names at once, you'll be asked to pick your favorite and stick with it to avoid future confusion.

If a player breaks any Mumble rule, staff has authorization to ban them from Mumble and the server without warning the player first. If you want to plead your case and attempt to overturn any punishment against you, please do so by posting a plea at: 12http://u.famcraft.com/1y

IRC Rules

**NEVER Log into #Famcraft IRC with ANY NAME intended to represent any other player, staff member, celebrity, entity, or anyone else at all, other than YOURSELF - We DO ban from the IRC channel, and from the server for breaking this rule**

1 - No trying to  hijack server conversation from IRC

Degrading other player's conversations, or drastically changing the subject to intentionally  steal focus from the original player's topic is not allowed. You are welcome to join in on the conversation from IRC, just don't try to run your own show. Remember, you are communicating with players who are still trying to actively play in game.
Also, if a staff member is assisting another player in game, please do not demand that staff member focus their attention on you. While our players on irc do matter very much to us, we must assist those players needing help in the game, first.
We implement extensive logging on #Famcraft IRC We log every word you type in the #Famcraft IRC channel. We store all this information for many months. There is no statute of limitations on punishing players. Enjoy the Famcraft irc knowing these rules will help provide you with a safe and fun forum experience.

2 - No Deliberate misspelling of words or use of abbreviations to slip swearing or other inappropriate words into IRC conversations. This includes making innuendo or attempting to alter the context of something someone else has said to make it seem inappropriate when it was not intended as such.

3 - Abusive, racist, sexual, drug-related, belligerent, political, anti-political, religious, anti-religious, and inflammatory chat is not allowed in text, links or nick/screen names. Remember, we log everything you type everywhere, always, and we keep logs forever.

Absolutely no linking to any site other than Famcraft.com, from IRC is allowed.

5 - Do not discuss other servers while using any of Famcraft's services, including IRC. That includes talking bad about other servers, too. 8 - Persistent hassling of Staff members for anything is not allowed. This includes excessive/spammy IRC public or private demands to review and reply to a plea.

9 - Spamming on IRC is not allowed. This includes using caps or excessive amounts of a letter or character. This also includes IRC private messages- do not spam other people on IRC with messages privately. It is okay to message your friends, just do so politely and responsibly. Do not always expect a reply to private messages on IRC, especially from staff members. Staff members stay quite busy with staff work. We will not argue this topic. ex: 111111111 - is one example of spam.

10 - Do not ask to become a staff member in game or on IRC. Server staff is also IRC staff. You can tell by the @ symbol before their names. We never ask players on IRC  to help moderate #Famcraft IRC

11 - English is the official language on Famcraft. We have players from all around the world and English is the most common language among them, so please use only English in the public chat on IRC. You may use other languages in personal messages on IRC.

Dearest Famcrafters,

Today, I would like to take a few minutes to share some vital information with you all. This post is for myself, as well as  for alll staff and players.

Day after day I see players positively insisting they know every second staff is online. I am often private messaged things like "Answer me! I know you're there!" Always makes me laugh a little because I usually see them when returning from being afk, because actually, no, I was not there. :)

We are all aware of the many methods players have to "see" if we are online. We are aware of all the ways you know to check, and even some you have not thought of yet :o We also have methods of being online that are completely undetectable by any of these means.  8)

Just because you "see" us "online" does NOT mean we are active and available in game at that very moment. At the same time, just because you DO NOT see us, that does not mean that we are not right there and readily available. Instead of trying to play hide and seek, or trying to "catch us" or private message until you feel we have no choice but to reply, Try asking for help in public chat, and stating what you need.

If you need something from a specific player or staff member /mail send [playername] is always an excellent option.

The fact is, our staff team, as incredible as they are, are all humans :O This means we may log in- make sure things are ok on the server...  and step away to make lunch, or walk the dog, or go get the mail. We may switch to another browser window and read the forum, or on a slow, lazy day, we may watch a movie while we keep an eye on chat.

Being "online" does not mean we are readily available for non-staff conversations or activities. We always make every effort to be here for staff related issues. Many times we handle situations quietly via /msg.

If we are afk,  many of us check the logs, and our mail as soon as we return to the keyboard, to see if we were needed while we were away. If you are patient, you'll likely find you usually get the help you need pretty quickly! And if not, there is always the Admin Help Request system here:  https://famcraft.com/index.php/topic,6632.0.html

Please do not send harassing /msg or less-than-polite/ spammy  public chat messages because you assume a staff member is online based on your "sources".  Again, just ask politely in public chat and state what you need.

As the matter of fact, it always helps to say what you need in chat, for any staff help request.
If I see "Rubens! TP!" in chat.. I usually don't actually tp. I wait for more info. If I see "Rubens, I need a World Edit please." I will normally tp instantly". Saying what you need will help us, help you faster.

So yeah, please just try to be patient, and keep in mind your methods of detecting online staff may not be as accurate as you think.

^Patience Please try to be patient. Patience can help you in every aspect of your life. People who practice patience tend to be happier and more relaxed, and often find that they have better outcomes in everyday situations. :D Patience: The ability to accept or tolerate delays, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious.

On occasion players ask to purchase a stargate linking to the main mall at /warp mall or to /warp sg.

We would like to offer a little clarification about what is and is not allowed to be linked to these locations.

There are seven stargates in the main stargate room at /warp sg. Some of these are for server use only. Players can purchase links to some of the gate if they meet the specified criteria and their location is approved by an Admin. We currently have no intention of adding any additional gates to /warp sg.

Always keep in mind, when linking to a public gate of any kind, a player can easily visit your area, and build just outside of your protection. Make sure that is a risk you are willing to take BEFORE purchasing a Stargate linking to the main public server Stargate room.

The Seven Gates at /warp SG are:

* The "Random Stargates" gate is for server/admin use ONLY. It links to 6 random locations that change frequently. It also links to the tour room at /warp tour.

*The "Worlds Gate" Links to other worlds, and is for server/admin use ONLY. This gate includes a public Nether, Public End, and a link to Wastelands, our Toxic Skies plugin world.

*The "Server Attractions" gate links to places that might be fun for players to visit or explore.

It costs 300k Famcoins to link to this gate. Any gates linking to this gate must provide entertainment or educational value, and must be enclosed and/or adequately protected. No shops are allowed to be included in the attractions. Gates are non refundable.  Any gate linking to this must first be approved by an Admin. The Admin team will always have the final say on if an area is suitable to link to this gate.

*We do not allow gates to be linked here that require a specific player to be present in order for the link to be entertaining/usable.  Examples: You build the biggest roller coaster on Famcraft- but YOU have to be there to start it or Your clan makes up a game-show, complete with it's own stage, but a few of your clan members need to be online to run the show. These sorts of things will not be allowed to link to the "Server Attractions" gate. The attraction must be usable/available at all times.

* The "Competitions Gate" is intended to link to server and/or player hosted competitions. It costs 300k to link to this gate. This fee is non-refundable. We prefer that you leave the builds from your competition on display. If you do not, the linking gate may be removed, no Famcoins will be refunded.

To qualify to link to the competitions gate, you must be hosting an actual competition, in a prepared and protected area with set rules, set prizes, and a proper forum post explaining the details of your contest.
No items of any kind can be available for sale in the competition area. This includes tools, building supplies or anything else. You can, however, provide free supplies such as a free to use tree farm, or sheep farm as a way for players to obtain building materials.Gates are non refundable. Any gate linking to this must first be approved by an Admin. The Admin team will always have the final say on if an area is suitable to link to this gate.

 * The "Free to Use Public Farms" gate links to player created FREE to use public farms, spawners or other resources. Absolutely no shops are allowed at the Free Farms. The farm must be completed, protected, and provide a obtainable and usable resource for players. It costs 300k to link to this gate. Gates are non refundable. Any gate linking to this must first be approved by an Admin. The Admin team will always have the final say on if an area is suitable to link to this gate.

* The "Clan Gates" gate is intended to link to an adequately protected clan area. This allows clan owners to offer a "sneak peek" of what their clan has to offer. It costs 300k Famcoins to link to this gate. Only established clans with protected clan areas can link to this gate. Inactive or disbanned clans may be removed from this gate. No shops are allowed to be connected to the clan area, and directly accessible by non-clan members. Gates are non refundable. Any gate linking to this must first be approved by an Admin. The Admin team will always have the final say on if an area is suitable to link to this gate.

*The "Non-Clan Affiliated Cities" gate is intended to be linked to player built/occupied cities or towns that are not owned or operated by clans. The linked area can be to "display" the city for other players to explore and enjoy, or  to set up an active city/town that accepts players who wish to build or live there. To link to this gate, there must be existing structures in  prepared and protected area. No shops are allowed to be connected to the city area, and directly accessible by non-city-resident players. Gates are non refundable. Any gate linking to this must first be approved by an Admin. The Admin team will always have the final say on if an area is suitable to link to this gate.

Mall Stargates at /warp mall

If you own a player built mall, you can link to /warp mall . It costs 1 million Famcoins for a gate that links to the main mall.

In order to be allowed to link to the main mall, your mall must meet the following criteria. We are well aware some older malls were added before the new criteria was in place. Some of these will likely be brought up to comply with the newer standards. However, the CURRENT rules and criteria are as follows:

* The mall must be fully protected. Protected from mobs spawning, and protected from griefing.

*The mall must be enclosed or showing a defined area. Keep in mind, if a player can exit your mall, they may build closer to it than you like. If they are a reasonable distance away they will not be asked to relocate.

*The mall must be player made- no scattering chest shops around a hooded forest and calling it a mall, for example.

*The mall must have free or rentable space available for MULTIPLE players to sell items. No "shop" intended to be owned and used by a single player will be allowed.

*The mall owner must understand he/she will need to be available to handle his/her own shop rentals and evictions. This is not the staff team's job.

*The mall needs to have rules clearly posted about what is and is not allowed, and at what point a player will be considered for eviction.

*The mall must sell actual goods, obtainable items sold via chestshops. A shop can not simply offer visual examples or signs explaining services that you can provide.

*The mall must be able to function without requiring shop owners to be online. Example of what is not allowed: A chest that sells logs- with a sign that says "tell me what kind of logs you need and I will restock". We expect some effort to keep mall shops stocked.

*Gates will only be placed in malls that are completed and ready to be open for business.

*You can not link to someone else's mall gate network.  You must purchase your own main mall gate, network and linking gate for 1 million Famcoins.

* Gates are non refundable.

* Any gate linking to this must first be approved by an Admin. The Admin team will always have the final say on if an area is suitable to link to this gate.

*The Admin team may remove gates linked to abandoned malls or malls owned by inactive/banned players.

*Keep in mind, owning a mall means eventual evictions- please make sure you are prepared to handle the evictions properly.

How to evict a player from a player owned mall

- Verify that the player has not been online/active in a while, or their shop appears abandoned. (* Hint, try the /saw command)

-Post a sign at the entrance of the shop stating that the shop owner is being evicted if there is no contact in "_"  days. Somewhere from 3-7 days should be reasonable for active players.

-Send in game mail with a similar message. /mail send [playername] Today is 7/9/14. Your mall shop at my mall will be closed in 3 days if I do not hear from you. Thx.

-If the player replies, as them to remove their items from your mall.

-After the allotted time has passed, if no response from the player, please contact an admin for proper removal of the players  items. You can contact us using the Admin Help Request form if we are not online. We will get to it as soon as reasonably possible:

(For the record, we pack their things up, and drop them off at their home in a locked chest, even banned players.)
 _____________________

We no longer allow linking of gates for purpose of showing/listing examples of what you may be able to offer for sale when you are online. If you have an actual player owned mall with shops, you can feel free to add a display area for examples of your work there. If you rent/own a shop in a player owned mall, you an ask the mall owner for permission to place stargates linking to a display area for your work. However, we DO NOT allow Stargates to be placed inside player owned main mall shops.

PlayerPvP Community Gate at /warp pvp

PvP Gate

All arenas submitted for consideration need to meet the following criteria. Even if they meet the guidelines there is absolutely no guarantee they will be selected or approved to go on the PlayerPvP network. Each arena will be considered on a case by case basis. Please remember not to become upset or behave in a negative way if your arena is not approved for the PlayerPvP StarGate. Not every arena will be accepted.

*Arena needs to have a battle-area of at least 60 x 60 blocks

*Arena should have a wall no less than 10 blocks tall all the way around

*Arena should have an adequate spectator area for players who wish to watch rather than fight

*Arena should have A lobby space at least 8 x 12 with space for a StarGate

*Arena should offer fun features- it should be more than just a walled in area

*Arena should be made of reasonably nice supplies- We probably wouldn't consider an all dirt arena

*Arena needs to be free of "traps" a player can not get out of (example 2 block deep holes)

*Arena needs to be free of exploitable areas

*Arena will need a name

*If approved, You will need to have 300k to pay for the link to the PlayerPvP StarGate

It may be a good idea to browse/play at the other arenas for some inspiration. We would like to add unique arenas that have a different look and feel than the ones we already have.

If your arena is NOT approved you can keep it, it is yours. You can still enjoy it with friends and clanmates. You can ask an Admin to relocate it for you, ask an Admin to remove it for you (you lose the supplies), take it apart yourself and keep the supplies, or offer it for sale on the auction house or forum. Please remembr NOT to behave in a upset or negative way.

If your arena IS Accepted, a copy may be taken rather than your original arena. If this is the case, the original arena will be yours to do with as you please.

If your arena is accepted it WILL NOT be used at the location you built it. It will be relocated to a private, protected area.

If the arena involves "death traps" that may prevent a player from being able to recover their items, it may be set up with a separate inventory. If this is the case, weapons/armor and food will be provided via free-to-use "Admin Shops" in the arena.

If your arena is used, the Admin team reserves the right to make minor changes to a copy of your arena, as needed.

** DO NOT go from one Admin to the next in an effort to get a gate added to a specific network. If one Admin tells you no, assume the other will too. All the Admin/Staff Team on Famcraft are in very close contact and we communicate often throughout the day.

Famcraft Tutorials, Links and Info / Bottling your XP
« on: July 05, 2014, 01:37:35 PM »
On Famcraft, players can bottle their xp for safe-keeping. We have had this option for a very long time, but a plugin update has allowed us to modify some of the mechanics of this feature.

Now, to bottle your xp, simple SHIFT-right-click on any spawner cage block.

As always, you will be charged some of your xp when you bottle it, but now you should l be charged a slightly lower percentage than before.

If you are one of those unfortunate players who always finds themselves needing something when no admin is around, read on.

We are now able to accept admin help requests, even when no admin is currently online. We will receive notifications of these help requests and be able to assist you as soon as we are available.

*PLEASE ask for an Admin in chat BEFORE using this process. We usually have an admin online who can help you immediately. If no admin is available, then please use this process.

DO NOT post your request in the public forum, instead, please use the "Request an Admin" form located here: http://tools.famcraft.com/request-an-admin/

In order for this to work, you'll need to know EXACTLY what you want, plus the costs involved.

While the Famcraft admin team is pretty good at most stuff, we still have not mastered mind reading.

Your instructions will need to be VERY specific, and you will need to make sure you have the funds to request the services you are requesting, as we will bill your account at the time we perform the requested service.
You DO NOT have to be online for us to remove funds from your account. Please make sure you know the prices (listed below). Land clearing below sea level is not free, even for donors.

ONLY make requests for yourself, or the clan YOU own. The player submitting the request is the player that will be billed for the service. No exceptions.
Submitting a request in another player's name may count as griefing, which is a bannable offence. We are able to verify the in game identity of players using this process, or any part of the forum, so please remember to be careful to only use your own name.
ONLY request services for your area(s), or the area(s) of the clan you own. Example: Do not surprise your friend with a Stargate linking your homes.

A good request should include coordinates, details on what you want, and ideally, area's marked out with bright wool or another material. There is a free sheep farm on the "Free Farms" gate at /warp sg if you need wool.

Here are some sample forms for different types of requests. You can copy/paste these as needed, or type up your own detailed info.

Stargate request can be for personal gates or linked to the mall/spawn. Gate/Network names need to be 10 characters (including letters, numbers and spaces) or less. You can select a gate style at /warp gates. It helps if you would like to build a placeholder with something like wool/cobble, dirt, so we can see exactly where you want the gate. You do NOT need to build it with the actual materials for the style. An admin will provide the correct materials when we place the gate.

When requesting a gate linking to the mall, the linking gate must be placed in a player built mall that is fully enclosed, protected with precious stones, and has shops available for multiple players to sell items from. If requesting a mall gate, we only need the coordinate and style info for the 1st gate (that will go in the player-built mall). We will connect it to one of the available gates in the main mall.

*All gates subject to admin approval.
