I would enjoy it if famcraft had a pixelmon server because I love the community here and I love pixelmon :)

I agree with loulou, I love pokemon, and I love famcraft, so why not make a famcraft pixelmon server! ;D

Because if Famcraft did have a Pixelmon server, anyone who wants to play on it would have to download the pixelmon mod. But I also think it would be awesome if we did have one.

Of course they'd have to download it. We have FTB and people have to download that to play there :P

FTB is a completley different launcher that downloads all the mods for you. If Famcraft is going to hava a Pixelmon server, I think it would be best if they made it on a different launcher.

I wasn't saying that we'd use the FTB launcher. I was just stating that it's not a problem to download the modpack, relating to how FTB players had to download FTB.

After all the other modded servers we've started up and then had flop, I'd like to see a LOT more interest in a particular modded server before investing any time into learning about it, setting it up, providing staff, and maintaining it. There are lots of themed servers out there that are fun for a few days but few have lasting appeal and even fewer fit well with Famcraft's family friendly don't-shoot-each-other atmosphere. And, finally, links people! We don't always know what you're talking about so include a link to the mod's homepage.

There's no need for a new launcher . Players can just download the mod's INSTALLER from Skydaz.com. It installs the mod for you.

I've never really been a Pokemon guy, but I've watched some YouTuber's play this modpack and it does look really awesome, Micah. Defiantly should be looked into.

Although I likely won't be playing on the server myself, I like the idea. I especially like how it applies both singleplayer and multiplayer aspects of the game. Even if there aren't many players online, I could still explore, train pokemon, or just expand my base. I think this, in turn, will allow more players to enjoy it, considering it could be played in groups of friends or alone.
In the future, this mod also has the potential to expand. I heard many plans from the creators to expand the mod, and make it more and more like the pokemon game. However, I'm not sure these plans will be put into action.
On the other hand, we would have to deal with the extra cost of maintaining a server, along with creating more staff members, a new set of rules, etc. There could be much more work involved than it looks like.

Creating a new server always involves a lot of work. Learning the new mods, programing and testing alone can take days, weeks or even months. As we do have our jobs/school or personal life things we have to attend to, including maintaining the servers we already have active, mind you very active at that.
We have tried offering, hardcore or even dayz type servers, which remained completely empty, rarely we would have players, and if we did, it would be players of 1 to 2 people. After a while they quit the server due to the lack of other players.
I guess what I'm trying to say here is exactly what micah has mentioned, we would need a lot more players trying to convince us before we can consider it, also, it would help if these people would be willing to help with testing.

First of all, I would love to help with the testing. Secondly, I feel as though a lot of players would like this server but i'm not sure how many people would stay with it. I think that if famcraft had a pixelmon server, player wise, it would be somewhat like the feed the beast server. Thirdly, the rules aspect of it would be difficult because the whole point of pokemon is to train by battling others. It should have rules very similar to famcraft survival and famcraft ftb: No griefing, No stealing, etc... but the main rule should be no battling unless both players have agreed to it. But I still think it is a great idea.

Why don't you take a poll, if a certain number of people say they want it by the end of the month, then you do some research on it, if not enough people say they want it then the idea remains in archives til a later date when it's brought back up in like 6 months or something. Just and idea :-\

I... actually would play on this ._. as well as offer myself up for staff if needed. I've been wanting to look into pixelmon for a while now, since I saw it being updated and the models started looking pretty fantastic :D It just depends on whether my laptop could handle the modpack -- but seeing as it isn't as CPU-intensive as FTB or other Technic/FTB modpacks, i don't really see it being a problem :)

Hey guys, pixelmon servers are great for the owners because sometimes players will donate to get a certain pixelmon, its great for the players because its super fun, and its really simple mod to download. Also for gym leaders if we have any its fun because they work hard post on forums and become a really good famcrafter to become a gym leader then they get to battle players. Even though it may be hard to make a pixelmon server there are so many maps if you want to do more of a adventure world. You can still have donershops and stuff like that just maybe special balls fossils and such like that. I would really enjoy it plus i think others would. Thank You!

I really like the idea of combining the awesome Famcraft community feeling with Pixelmon. Can you imagine: Pokémon in Minecraft with all those awesome people? :o
But I also understand that this is not something you can setup within a second and it requires a lot of work and maintenance.
If the idea is carried on and there is a need of people to help, I would love to provide my manpower as far as possible. (I'm quite busy though at the moment to be honest...)

I considering installing the Pixelmon mod and looking for a server similar to Famcraft to play it on. After spending some time looking through the forums (about an hour or so) I came to the conclusion that I would be disappointed with any server I tried to play on. The fact is, I do believe that Pixelmon is going to stay a very popular style of Minecraft for the foreseeable future (in fact, my friends are more likely to buy and play Minecraft if they are playing Pixelmon) and to me, I believe that Pixelmon would fit in well with the family friendly environment that Famcraft promotes.

Looks pretty interesting if you ask me, and looks like a actively maintained mod.
I agree on Egi this would fit in nice with the famcraft style server.
Though i also want to point out its also up to the players to help spread the word passed only this forum, after all, the community as a whole will be able to make this a equally popular server as the survival, but if nobody puts in some effort to promote it, it will die a silent death

What's 12pm for you may not be noon for everyone, the forum is set to a standard zone (Central US) and all post's times are measured based on that, not *your* timezone. Besides, some of us are older and don't have school, others have breaks or can use electronics on lunch, and other's are homeschooled 8)

I usually dont play modpacks, but this is a great chance to try out a new modpack for myself!
I love the idea of Famcraft Pixelmon Server, with its family-friendly enviroment, and real nice people.

Lemmy: most likely, if this happens, Micah would be able to make an FTB auto-installed Minecraft with Pixelmon or other related mods loaded already. We use a special Famcraft FTB pack with custom mods from the traditional FTB packs, so I don't see why this couldn't be considered another special 'FTB' pack for instance.

Pixelmon is actually stand alone, and you use forge to play it. So after downloading it, all you have to do is change the version of minecraft you are playing in your launcher to the 1.6.4 forge-mod version. After the download, it takes like 5 seconds to change between vanilla minecraft and the pixelmon mod when you first open the minecraft launcher.

As I understand it, if this happens, Bk wanted it to be his project. He has become quite busy with irl things at the moment. Maybe he will get back to us on this when he has more free time on his hands.
I believe the rest of the Admin team have their plates pretty full with survival and FTB right now. Thank you for asking about an update. <3

I really do apologize all, I wanted to do this project and have it ready for our anniversary, which as you can see is too late :( I still want this to be a go, but I have an issue with protections. I have yet to find a suitable protection plugin. If I were to make this live, I would get a bunch of complaints about greifs and such, I would like to avoid that.

Hey bk, I am not quite sure, but I think Grief Prevention (http://www.curse.com/bukkit-plugins/minecraft/grief-prevention) is the Plugin, most Pixelmon Servers use...

When I have the time, I will look into it. Precious stones will not protect items from the mod. Like the machine to heal pokemon and such.

So this server is actually gonna happen :o
My guess is that this server will be sorta like the FTB server (people wise). I think that the pixelmon server will take some players from the ftb server and some away from the survival server. For anyone that might consider leaving survival for pixelmon, I just ask that you check in on the survival server from time to time :D
This is just my opinion though. :P

There are people who play on FTB AND Survival. I suspect, like ftb, that we'll have a lot of overlap between all three. Another benefit from this is that, like ftb (again :p), you will have people that join just for the pixelmon server meaning we would have even more people play on the FamCraft servers. :D

So, I saw Lemmy's post about something with the word "poke~mon" in it and it reminded me... Pixelmon Famcraft Server. I had never been a fan of Pokemon and always thought it was boring, yes, you heard me right, i had no childhood. :P Anyway, I decided i would try out Pixelmon and... um... obsession happened... :>>>> The only song I've heard in the last 3 days is the Pokemon Theme song ::) So yeah, I cast my vote for a Pixelmon Server as... POSITIVE :DDDD

I think it would be as about as distracting as ftb to be honest, that is, not very distracting. It would help for advertising Famcraft. You'd have some players get on Famcraft specifically for pixelmon. At the very beginning, it would attract a lot of the players from survival, but they would go back. Pixelmon would serve as extra fun with the addition of attracting more lovely ^players. :D
