Survival Server Status / June 12th, 2021 Down Time
« on: June 12, 2021, 06:02:00 PM »
Hey y'all, unfortunately there's been a major weather event where the server is hosted, and all power and connectivity is down for the time being.

We don't currently have an ETA for when all services will be restored but given the severity of things, it could take all night or more before we're back up and running. We'll keep this updated to let y'all get the latest information.

Survival Server Status / 1.14.4 Update Downtime
« on: October 13, 2019, 03:41:33 AM »
hey yall!

Good news! We're currently updating Famcraft to 1.14.4!

Bad news is... It'll take some time to perform the update, so main will be offline for some time. If everything goes okay, it could be as little as one day of downtime, but it could also end up being a few days before main is back online, running 1.14.4.

We've sneakily updated classic to 1.14.4 just before this, so if you join and you're sitting in the fallback room (the one with the ice boats!), you can still check out the new 1.14.4 things by typing: /server classic

The other servers, skyblock, wastelands, and games, are also still available to play on as well, though they won't have the new 1.14.4 features yet. You can get to them the same way; Using the /server command.

If you're just wanting to get right into exploring the stuff 1.14.4 brings, hop on over to the classic server with the above command and check out the gates at /warp sg, they'll take you to new, unexplored areas!

Famcraft Survival / Mall shop auctions!
« on: April 20, 2019, 12:09:18 AM »
Hey yall! It's coming up on Famcraft's 7th birthday and there'll be a bunch of mall shop auctions!

You can see a list of them here: https://auctions.famcraft.com/list

Good luck if you're going to be bidding!

Some more info on mall shop auctions:

After the auctions are over, the person with the highest bid wins the shop they were bidding on.

* Multiple players may share the same shop. They may pool their money together and buy the shop together. When bidding in a group, only 1 player should bid, and they must have all the bid money in their own account before making the bid.

* Your money must be in your hand when you bid. Do not bid with money you do not have. If you join with another player to bid, the bidder for your group must have the money to match the bids he/she makes. This includes clan bank - Make sure to withdraw before bidding.

* You cannot bid on, own, or partially own more than one shop in the main server mall.

* Two different shop owners or groups of shop owners CAN combine their shop space if they are adjacent. Just tear down the connecting walls.

Additional general rules regarding shop ownership:

The spawn mall shops can be fully customized except for a few small restrictions:

* Diamonds must be sold for no less than 600 Famcoins, in any chestshop -  server-wide
* Dragon Eggs must be sold for no less than 150k Famcoins, in any chestshop -  server-wide
* Anywhere you are able to destroy blocks, you can customize
* No lava
* No water
* When you place signs on the wall, you must place them on blocks that you own. Do not remove the wall, then put up signs, because this will be putting signs on your NEIGHBOR's wall and will block them from being able to manipulate their own wall.

* Shop owners who neglect their shops risk being evicted. Neglect means buying the shop and doing nothing with it and/or not restocking your shop and/or setting incredibly unreasonable prices so as to appear to never go out of stock.

Survival Server Status / Server Connectivity Problems - 4/1/2019
« on: April 01, 2019, 08:35:28 PM »
Hey yall, unfortunately survival is experiencing some pretty bad connection problems today. We're hoping these problems can be sorted out soon, but we don't have any ETAs for a fix at this time.

If we have further information about this problem, such as any possible ETA, we'll post it here.

Sorry about the problems everyone is having staying connected, and thank you for sticking with us.

Update: The problems appear to have been sorted out, things seem stable again.

Survival Server Status / Famcraft Server Status - May 6th, 2018
« on: May 06, 2018, 05:05:41 PM »
Unfortunately we're going to be down for a few hours yet again, so sorry yall.

Although the server is not playable at this time, don't worry, your things are okay!

We've got a temporary creative server set up for everyone to play in while we get things sorted with the survival servers. We'll post updates here if we've got updates.

UPDATE:
We're making progress, and some things are already back online. We're confirming some hardware configuration changes we're making before we bring the survival servers back up.

UPDATE 2:
We're back! Sorry about that yall, we've taken steps to try to ensure this won't be a problem in the future. Thank you for sticking with us during that several-hour downtime, and happy Famcrafting!

Famcraft Survival / Famcraft Server Status (Again)
« on: March 05, 2018, 02:00:32 PM »
Many of Famcraft's services are experiencing interruptions at the moment due to a power outage that has affected one of our local internet providers.

Although we have no ETA at this time, due to the scale of the outage, we don't expect it to be too long.

Plea to be unbanned / HulkRabban's plea (emailed)
« on: December 16, 2017, 12:13:49 PM »
HulkRabban has emailed the following plea:

Quote
I am sorry for what I did. I realize I broke one of the rules which was being unkind to one of the players, (AKA future_gamer123). I am going to fix it by apologizing and not being unkind to players anymore. I will not post unkind messages when talking to other players and when posting signs. I have went over all the rules again with my parents and promise this will not happen again. I realize this is was not a temporary ban. I promise if I can have another chance I will follow the rules and make better choices.
Thank you,
HulkRabban

General Discussion / 2017 North American Solar Eclipse - Information
« on: August 20, 2017, 02:26:54 PM »
On the 21st of August, 2017 (tomorrow or even today, depending on when you're reading this!), there will be a total solar eclipse that goes across the North American continent!

What is a solar eclipse?

A solar eclipse happens when the moon lines up just right in the sky to cast a shadow on the ground during the day. This shadow only lasts a few minutes, and it is not very big, so getting to see one can be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many of us if we're lucky enough to see one!

What is this "totality" thing I keep hearing about?

The "totality" of the eclipse is what happens when you are completely in the moon's shadow. Not everyone will be able to see the totality, or a total solar eclipse. Most of the continent will experience a partial solar eclipse. It is not safe to look at the eclipse directly without the proper eye protection if the sun is not completely blocked by the moon. During totality, it will change from being bright daylight to almost completely dark within just a few seconds and you'll notice it get noticeably colder outside (and it might even get quieter too!). Totality only lasts a few minutes or less, depending on where you are in the moon's shadow.

Where can I see it?

A partial eclipse will be visible around morning and on into the early afternoon across a large portion of the North American continent. This includes the southern parts of Canada, the entire continental United States (that's all states except Alaska and Hawaii!), and northern parts of Mexico.

If you're in these specific states in the US, you may have a chance to experience a total solar eclipse (in order of when it will happen): Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina

If you aren't in those states mentioned above, but you're close to them, you still have a chance to experience a near-total solar eclipse where almost all the light will be blocked. Remember: It is not safe to look directly at the sun without proper eye protection if you are not completely covered by the moon's shadow!

Proper eye protection?

Proper eye protection means special glasses that filter out the sun's bright light. They are not normal sunglasses, and many of them will look sort of like those cardboard 3D glasses you've seen around. Proper solar glasses will be completely dark, letting almost no light through.
Proper eye protection, such as solar glasses, is important! This is because looking at the sun at any time without proper protection is very bad for your eyes and can cause you to go blind! (Seriously!)
Normal sunglasses do not offer enough protection to keep your eyes safe when looking directly at the sun.
This means it is important to remember not to try peeking out from behind the safety of your solar glasses to look at the sun directly if it is not completely covered by the moon, because even that is dangerous!

What if I don't live in an area that will experience this solar eclipse?

If you don't live in an area that will experience this solar eclipse, or if you're in an area that will only experience a partial one, NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, will be hosting a live streaming event of it as it takes place on their website.

If you would like to watch NASA's live coverage of the solar eclipse, you can do so here: https://www.nasa.gov/eclipselive
Their live stream will start up a little while before the eclipse starts to happen and will continue on through for the whole eclipse.

More Information:

You can read more about safety tips on NASA's official page here: https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/safety

You can read more detailed information about how eclipses happen here: https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/how-eclipses-work

You can read more about this specific solar eclipse here: https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/eclipse-who-what-where-when-and-how

You can see an interactive map that tells you if you will experience a partial or total solar eclipse, as well as tell you when it will start and end, here: https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/sites/default/files/interactive_map/index.html

« on: August 08, 2017, 02:29:30 AM »
Just like the post title says, we've updated to 1.12.2!
Nothing fancy, just some bug fixes, but you'll need to update your Minecraft client to at least 1.12.1 in order to connect!

Famcraft Survival / Second Anniversary Clan Home Giveaway!
« on: April 12, 2014, 12:26:05 AM »
Hello! For the 2nd Famcraft anniversary, members of clans can enter and be randomly selected to win a new clan home for their clan! Keep reading to find out how!

The winner of the clan home is drewsmagic! Congrats!

This clan home is located on top of a mesa with a stunning view of the surrounding mesa biome overlooking an ocean, with a mooshroom biome connected to its side.
The clan home comes with everything you see featured in the screenshots, along with a pre-installed grid of diamond PreciousStones fields.

In this clan home, you will find:
  • A map wall next to the clan bulletin board that maps out the area owned by the clan
  • A small housing section with eight pre-built homes
  • Stations for enchanting, brewing, crafting, and repairing items
  • A small farm that has some cows, pigs, chickens, as well as crops
  • An underground sheep farm with some sheep of every wool color
  • A basic experience and item mob grinder farm, supporting up to four spawners (Spawners sold separately)
  • Unused areas that can be built-up at the winning clan's discretion (Some ideas: Community buildings, clan storage, etc)
  • Redstone-powered path lighting that automatically turns on at dusk, and turns back off at dawn
  • Bob the chicken (Includes small-sized pen!)
Things to know when entering to win:
  • Entering to win is simple! Just head to http://tools.famcraft.com/raffle and fill out your Minecraft username and click "Enter!"
  • You may enter as many times as you want to, although your username can only be entered once per-day throughout the raffle.
  • You must enter your actual in-game name, not your nickname if you have one!
  • A day before the birthday the raffle will be closed and the admins will use a truly random method to draw a winner from all entries. This means that you'll have a higher chance to win if you enter your name in every day until the raffle ends, but nothing is guaranteed!
  • Please do not enter someone else's name for them, if someone wishes to enter their name into the raffle to help their clan win, they must enter it themselves. If you're found to be entering others' names for them, you'll be disqualified from the raffle!
  • To be eligible for winning this clan home, you must be a leader or a member of a clan.
  • Please only enter if you intend to use it as a clan home for your whole clan, not as a personal home for just yourself.
  • The clan home goes to the winner's current clan at the time of the drawing, not the clan they were in at the time they originally entered. If the winner is not in a clan at the time of the drawing or the clan leaders of the winning clan tell us they don't want the clan home, a new winner will be drawn.

Famcraft Tutorials, Links and Info / Famcraft Image Vault
« on: March 22, 2014, 02:02:35 AM »
Need to share an image somewhere? Use the Famcraft Image Vault!

http://image.famcraft.com

The Famcraft Image Vault is an image hosting website, tailored specifically to Famcraft. You can use it to upload your forum signature images, your screenshots for things such as auction house listings or forum posts, and anything else that lets you post images.

If you choose to use the Image Vault, please make sure that all your uploads follow the general Famcraft rules. Failure to follow the rules may result in stuff like deleting your image, a ban from the Image Vault, or worse, and that's never fun.

The Image Vault provides a few different things, such as an image stats page. Each uploaded image has its own stats page, like this one:

http://image.famcraft.com/58r9oddf

The stats page has things such as the image's title, a preview of the image, how long ago the image was uploaded, who uploaded the image, the number of times that image has been viewed, and the total amount of bandwidth that image has used.
On the stats page of the image, below the image preview, you'll see a "Sharing Links" section. This has various pre-formatted links to your image so you can just click the link you want, copy it, and paste it directly into the service you wish to add the image into.

The direct image link just looks like this:

http://image.famcraft.com/58r9oddf.jpg

The direct links such as the one above will still count towards the image's total views and stuff, too!

Things to note:
There are no user accounts on the Image Vault (right now!), so when you upload an image, you will be given a special delete link, this delete link is a special link that will only show up when you first upload your image. You can find it at the bottom of the page, below the Sharing Links section. If you ever think you need to delete an image, make sure you save that delete link that you are given when you first uploaded your image.
There is no public gallery of uploaded images, so if you just upload an image and leave it there without sharing it, no one will see it because they won't know it's there!
The circled "!" button to the right of the image's title on all images' stats pages is a button to anonymously report an image. If an image offends you, please do not hesitate to click that button and report it. Clicking the report button will take you to a page asking you to confirm whether you want to report the image or not, so if you clicked the button accidentally, it's ok!

Finally: If you have any questions, comments, or bug reports, please post them here!

Sell your products/homes / Famcraft Auction House
« on: March 06, 2014, 12:55:51 AM »
The Famcraft auction house is a place similar to eBay, where players on Famcraft can list items they want to sell and other players can bid on those items. Holding auctions for things has never been easier on Famcraft! It's as simple as filling out your in-game username, the price you wish the bidding to start at, the amount of hours the auction should go on for, a title for your listing so others know what it is on the main page, and finally, a description of the item that you're selling. If you're selling something that can be described better by pictures instead of words, you can add pictures too! See below to read how.

http://auctions.famcraft.com

Rules and usage guidelines:
Failure to follow these could result in you getting banned from the auction house! Please read them!

The rules for posting things in the auction house are the same as the Main Rules.

Extra rules specific to the auction house:
Items should only be sold in in-game Famcoins, not real money!
When posting or bidding, please use your in-game name. Actual usernames are preferred over nicknames, but nicknames will work too.
Please do not "bump" your own posts by bidding on them. Doing this is a good way to get yourself banned from the auction house!
Please do not post or bid as someone else.

If you post an item:
Please make sure that your starting bid is something you feel comfortable selling the item at. Your item might only get a single bid!
You will be expected to have that item ready to be given to the winning bidder.
If something happens to the item before the bidding has ended (accidentally fell in lava/creepers found it/dog ate it/etc), please let staff know so the item's post can be removed!
If the winning bidder does not wish to pay you for the item they bought, please let staff know.
It is ok to post links to your item's bid page to advertise that you're selling it, but please be mindful of the no-spam rule!

If you bid on an item:
You will be expected to pay the seller the amount you bid if you are the winning bidder.
If something happens and you do not have the money before the bidding is done, please let staff know so we can remove your bid!
If you win the bidding and the seller does not wish to give you the item you bought, please let staff know.

Useful information:
Bidding will automatically be locked on an item once the item's auction length has ended, so you won't have to worry about seeing if someone placed a bid after the auction expired.
New items and new bids will appear automatically, no refreshing needed.
You can post images in the item's description area by using the same tag you would for forums, the [img] tag. Multiple images in a description are supported. Choose your favorite place to upload the image at, then just put the link to that image inside the tag like such:
Code: [Select]
[img]http://kealper.com/static/shark_avatar.gif[/img]
Finally: If you have any questions, comments, or other feedback, please post it here.
