Seems fine by me, and that would be something that would be nice to have in the vanilla game. I love the swimming animation  :o

General Discussion / Re: What needs to be Improved on Famcraft
« on: April 22, 2013, 04:30:24 PM »
  • Spawn was just completely re-made from scratch not that long ago, and I've only ever seen positive feedback from it from any player that remembers the spawn before it. A lot of time was put in to the current spawn.
  • "Territories" is rather vague, we've got a stargate at spawn that lets you go to six different locations around the map, and those locations are changed every week. If you are referring to sectioned-off areas that players can build in to make cities and stuff, that is what clans and clan homes are for.
  • If you are referring to our main server that you frequent, it is survival-only for a reason. It's hostname is, after all, "survival.famcraft.com". We've got other servers with things other than just regular survival as well. There is the Feed The Beast server and Hardcore server, with plans to add others in the future.
  • As with all economies, both in the real world and in games, it takes money to earn money. This means that when you first start out, it can be hard to earn lots of money, but as you get more and more, it becomes easier to earn money. In the survival Famcraft server, you start out getting paid very little for your jobs, but if you stick with your jobs and keep doing them, you gain more and more job experience, which in-turn makes you gain more and more money for that job. So the more you play, the easier it is to get money. This is done by-design, as an incentive for players to choose jobs and stick with them, and to keep doing their jobs.
  • Spamming ("zzzzzzzzz", "lol!!!!!!!!!", "ooooooommmmmmmmggggggggg", etc), and caps ("NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!", "LOOOOOOOL", "HEY GUYS COME LOOK WHAT I BUILT!!!1", etc) are almost always dealt with accordingly if they were noticed. Mis-spelling words is perfectly fine, no one is expected to be an English major here, we all make mistakes. "Cussing", as you put it, is absolutely not tolerated on Famcraft, as the "Fam" in the name is for "Family". We're a family-friendly Minecraft community and we strive to make it a place where players of all ages, young to old, can come and enjoy Minecraft, together.
I think for what it is, Famcraft works quite well and just about all of the feedback I have heard either personally or by a third party has been positive.

The first sign on the rule wall at spawn mentions that it is not allowed to discuss other servers here. We can only hope that this has taught you a lesson that the rules apply in all forms of chat on the server, and not just in the main chat.

I will unban you, but I want to make sure that you understand that this is your only warning about advertising/discussing other servers on Famcraft servers. This means that if you discuss other servers on Famcraft again, you will not be able to ask to be unbanned.

You may log back in at any time now, and we look forward to seeing you in the game again, and hope that you follow the posted rules.

Plea to be unbanned / Re: Sorry :'(

Thank you for taking the time to plea.

I feel you have learned a valuable lesson from this experience and that it won't be an issue again. Just so we're clear, going on to someone else's farm that you find and harvesting it and killing their animals is not nice, and no one likes it when someone is being not nice. Even if you take from someone's farm and replant without their permission, it is still considered griefing. So now that you are aware of this, I can only hope it won't happen again.

Your temporary ban has been lifted, we look forward to seeing you back on the server!  ;D

It doesn't, it was an issue with the fake 1.5 we were running.

Plea to be unbanned / Re: Banned from mumble.
« on: April 11, 2013, 02:19:03 PM »
Hi, and thank you for taking the time to plea!

You were banned from Mumble for saying "so ban me then" when I had told you that I would ban you if you kept talking over me like you were. It is true that both of us were getting a little bit loud at each other over a discussion of what a GPU is, but the real reason you were banned was simply based on your response you gave.

Because I'm feeling nice, I have set your ban to expire in 24 hours. I hope this gives you some quiet time to reflect on the fact that responding in the way you did, and acting out in the way you have done in the past with myself and other staff members, is not appropriate and will lead to punishments such as this.

And please do not think that we all hate you or something, because that is not the case. If we did not enjoy your company, you would have known. You're an interesting person to talk to and you've established yourself as a member of our great community, but you've just got a bit of a rough edge that can some times rub people the wrong way.

I'm willing to put this behind me if you are, and I look forward to Mumbling with you again in 24 hours!

Plea to be unbanned / Re: Banned for my weekend :(

Terribly sorry, I should have replied sooner.

After reviewing your ban, we have decided to remove it and do apologize for the unintended, short-lived break from the server. So sorry about that.

We hope to see you back on soon!

If you are not using Windows, downgrading your Minecraft is very simple and can be done with just a few quick clicks in many Unix-like operating systems such as OS X, Ubuntu, Linux  Mint, and more!

NOTE: The image in the Ubuntu/Linux Mint section are from Linux Mint using Nemo but the instructions should work for Nautilus too. If you encounter any issues with this guide, please don't hesitate to let me know so I can correct it.

For Mac OS X:
Open up Finder and use the "Go to folder..." option, and enter:
Code: [Select]
~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin

You should see a few different files, find the one called "minecraft.jar" and delete it.

Download the correct version of that jar file from HERE and move it in to that bin folder.

That's it, you're done!
Close out of Finder and try to start Minecraft now; It should let you join the server.

For Ubuntu and Linux Mint:
Open Nautilus (or Nemo if you're using Cinnamon 1.6+) and click on the "View" tab and select "Location..." and enter:
Code: [Select]
~/.minecraft/bin

Just as with the other operating systems, you should see a few different files. Find the one called "minecraft.jar" and delete it.

Download the correct version of that jar file from HERE and move it in to that bin folder.

That's it, you're done!
Close out of Nautilus (or Nemo) and try to start Minecraft now; It should let you join the server.

Famcraft Tutorials, Links and Info / Re: Mumble
« on: March 08, 2013, 03:04:19 PM »
For Android users:

There are a few different Mumble apps available from the Play Store. This post will discuss the free Mumble app by LordMarty on the Play Store.

When you first start the app, you will be presented with this screen:

Tap your menu key on your device to bring up the menu and select the "Add Server" button, as directed by the arrow in the image below:

On this screen, you can add a new Mumble server. In this case, you'll want to add the Famcraft Mumble server.

Quote
Label: Can be anything you want, but set to "Famcraft" in the example image below.
Address: mumble.famcraft.com
Port: 64738 (The default port, if you're familiar with the desktop version of Mumble)
Username: Should be your in-game username, so no one is confused when you join.
Password: Leave this blank, it isn't needed on this Mumble server.

Click on "Add Server" when you've filled out everything correctly to save the server.

After adding the server, your main Mumble screen should look like the one below. Tap the server you just added to connect to it.

The red arrow in the image below points out the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button, hold that button down to transmit, release to stop transmitting. The yellow arrow points out the Chat button, click this to view the channel's text chat screen, where you can type messages or send links to other people in that chat channel. And finally, the blue arrow points out the Change Channel button, click that to select a different chat channel. The Famcraft Mumble has a handful of different chat channels for our players to use, so if you join and no one is talking in the "Root" channel, try clicking that button to see if there are other channels you can hop in to and start chatting in!

If you're interested in a more complete Mumble solution than the one listed above, there is also Plumble on the Play Store for $1.31 which provides a better experience if you're willing to spend a bit of money.

Now, normally, we'd like to see a better plea than what you gave, but since reddiamond101 asked for you to be unbanned we decided to let this plea work.

A "hacked client" is a mod.

"Mod" is shorthand for "modification", meaning any Minecraft game client that has been modified in any way from how Mojang ships it is considered to be "modded", or modified.

There is a short list of modifications that are allowed, such as OptiFine, but if you look at that very short list, there are no mentions of any sort of speed-hacking modifications, or other modifications that gives a player a noticeable competitive edge over the other players.

Also, rule-lawyering does not help your case at all.

You were given a second chance after the first ban, and you blew your second chance, too.
