Title: Ban Plea / Request for more information
Post by: kanethepro on December 25, 2018, 09:16:48 PM
Hello there Admin/Mod.
I am posting this initial message on behalf of my son, KaneThePro, who is 7.
It appears he was banned for ruining someone's snowflakes and I am looking for a little help understanding what happened so we can discuss the issue with him and have him help with the ban plea / apology, as we would like to have this be a teachable moment for him where he learns something.
He explained to us he went through a portal I believe, and there were some snowflakes in a glass block that said 2018 or something on it, and he was building there, or trying to also build snowflakes. (Sorry, I'm not very minecraft savvy).
Before allowing him on your servers I went over the rules with him, and explained the concept of griefing and how it is basically being a bully and is unacceptable in minecraft just as it is in the real world. He said he doesn't understand what he did wrong in this instance though, as he felt the snowflakes were not part of someone else's house or area.
If you could help explain a little more of what happened to me, I will be more than happy to walk through it with my son so he can help with the plea to be unbanned. He is quite upset about being banned and not being able to play with his new minecraft friends anymore, and I don't believe he had malicious intent with what he did, but I need some help in understanding the situation.

Thanks,
KaneThePro's Dad

Hello,

Thank you for inquiring about your child's ban.

Each year Famcraft has a special snowflake building event. The rules are clearly posted. Each player is invited to build a snowflake in a special area, all supplies are provided.
Kane went though and griefed quite a few snowflakes. It was very obvious these were built by other players as most of them had signs on them stating the name of the players who built each one.. This is not something we tolerate on Famcraft.                                      - RubensCherub

Thank you for the reply RubensCherub.
I talked to him about what you said happened, and he still said he didn't know/understand that those were other people's things because they weren't in people's houses.
So, in my opinion, sadly he may just not be quite at the maturity level and reading comprehension level to play on Famcraft at this moment as he clearly didn't take time to read or ask for help from the wife and I if he didn't understand a sign or rules that were clearly posted.
I am still going to have him still start a new thread with an apology I will help him type up, as I feel he needs to do that still since he damaged others items.
I am also requesting, if perhaps instead of being permanently banned, maybe you would consider banning him until he turns 8 in December? My hopes is that his maturity level and reading level have increased by that point to better be able to understand and follow rules and posted signs on Famcraft.

Thank you again,
KaneThePro's Dad
