Title: Optifine keeps crashing?

Hey y`all! Been awhile since I was last on the forums, very busy. I got optifine an hour ago and I cant even play it. Everytime I go on, it crashes on a matter of 5 seconds. any suggestions?

I`ve removed it and reinstalled it. After like 40 tutorials nothing works.

Is it the right version of optifine? Are you on the right version of Java? Does it work fine without Optifine installed?

I`m using the latest version of optifine FOR 1.8.9. And I always update Java.

And Yes, it works perfecto without it on.

You need to get the version for 1.12.2, that would explain the crashing. The 1.8.9 version will only work on the 1.8.9 version of Minecraft.

Like DC said, you need the version of OptiFine you're using to match the version of Minecraft. So if you wanted to use it on Famcraft, you'd need Optifine 1.12.2 installed. However, if you also wanted OptiFine for 1.8.9, you need to separately download OptiFine 1.8.9, if that makes sense.

I occasionally play a single player world that is 1.10.2.  On the client I have two different profiles to choose from before I log in.  The first says Famcraft which I have Optifine 1.12.1 and the other is Single Player which uses 1.10.2 Optifine.  I've not run into a problem at all doing it this way.

Yes, yes, I know, 1.12.1 is not the latest but it still works bc Famcraft is a magical place!
