Every time I would get optifine it never works...
I download it then it goes to my download file, and it stays there, and stays, and stays, I cant move it or do ANYTHING with it at all.
No idea why this is happening and would like some suggestions on how to fix this. Its silly how I have a optifine cape without optifine lol

Have you tried downloading optifine from here: https://famcraft.com/index.php/topic,6186.msg35674.html#msg35674. Also when you have optifine in your download folder does it actually have any size to it... I've downloaded it before but it wasnt actually it. Also do you run it when you get it?

I`ve done it from there, when I click the download button to get optifine it says if I want to open it or not so I open it and its basically nothing I can move or anything, I really don't know what I would do.
EDIT: I don't have java also would that be a thing that would mess it up?
-
i believe that you do need java to get it, but im not sure
-
Yea I also think you need Java for optifine
-
Yes, you need Java.

I have a problem too,but was too lazy to write until now, lol.I have Java but I can't open the file.Apparently you need a certain file opener to do this, and my version of windows already has it in the computer, yet I STILL can't open it

Are you using the Windows version of the Minecraft launcher? Googling around a bit, here's a suggestion (which I have not tried):
- install Forge via its Windows installer (--it was suggested that Java is not necessary for this?)
- put the .jar file downloaded from OptiFine into %APPDATA%\.minecraft\mods
Any luck?
(For the record, you actually are using Java, because Java is required for Minecraft. The Microsoft launcher just downloads its own version of Java and doesn't install it for the global system. At least, this is my understanding of the environment.)
