Title: PS Fields- Names Resetting
Post by: BretBuscus on May 12, 2013, 11:49:43 AM
Every now and then, the names of my PS fields reset back to "xMrBretRosinx's City Protection Field," after I name them "the land of the Buscus!" Is there any logical explanation to this? :o

Overlapping fields? They have some bugs.

I've been seeing problems with PS fields resetting altogether; Not just the names.

I remember specifically because I have to ask Camel every now and then to re-allow me to the PS field in the store I bought, otherwise I can't use my shop at all.

Yep we've been having problems like this for a few months now with fields that overlap fields owned by another player. Our slightly-educated guess is that when PS reconciles permissions in overlapping fields, it goes with the strictest and reverts the settings on the looser one. That could result in it dropping allowed players from overlapped fields.

We've been working on it and though we've been able to fix some other huge PS problems, we can't seem to nail down this one yet.

Just an update for those who want to know.

Micah has been working really hard along side with the dev of PS, they've been trying to track down the problem so that the dev can fix it. Hopefully we can get this fixed soon.

i also had that problem.
What worked for me was to replace all stones with new ones, but right after placing it, i did set the name, and 2 permissions.
so i made 3 changes right after placing it.
It seems they all work now as i wanted them to.

I don't know if you saw where I commented on your bug report at github, but the way around this bug is to make more than 1 change to a stone before the next restart. So if you allow a player into the field and then change the name of the field, both changes will take effect. If you do only one, the plugin doesn't write it to the database for unknown reasons.

We've been working with players who complain about it ingame who usually want to add a new player to the field. We have them add the new player, then add an admin or a made up name to force the plugin to update the database.

Thanks for the report Micah.  Can it be two different changes?  Like set a name and add a player or do they need to be the same type of change?

I think multiple changes word, doesnt have to be of the same type :)

I don't know for sure, but 1869flame is probably correct.
