Title: PvP
Post by: mathfreak2 on March 11, 2014, 07:47:51 PM
So, Kenneth and I were messing around, and he started throwing snow balls at me, turns out they actually did damage even though my pvp was off. I tested it with him, too. Same thing. He had his pvp off, but snowballs were still doing damage.

I think since snowballs and eggs don't do damage when you hit someone with them, they're not qualified as PvP tools. Just a thought :P

Technically, they do cause damage, although the amount is negligible to the point where no noticeable amount of health is removed. It does however, cause the damage knockback effect. Snowballs, eggs, and enderpearls all cause this but neither deal actual damage and because these effects aren't targeted by the non-pvp plugin, it is possible to "damage" others with them. This also will not be removed/fixed mostly likely due to the nature of the game and plugin and the way in which certain entities are entitled to the player. Not all are traceable back to a player necessarily, and therefore, may not be considered "player vs. player".

kthx

Couldn't you still technically kill someone with them given enough of them, though?

Well, supposedly, they deal 0.0012 damage I believe, and 1.0 health is equivalent to half a heart... Based upon that, you'd need about 830 snowballs hitting you in the same tick (1/20 of a second) to take any visible damage, although it would regenerate so quickly, I'm not sure its really a big deal :P Assume they do nothing except provide knockback.

You technically could, but as Stitch said, it'd take so many at such fast speeds it virtually impossible. It isn't impossible, though, to kill them with the knockback. One time, I was at havefun5's house and we were at the top of the building, I threw like 50 snowballs at her and she fell off the building and died. She also had PvP disabled :P

But the death wasn't from the snowballs, it was from the knockback that they provided. The actual death was caused by a fall, no damage by the snow, and since snowballs are not 'pvp enabled' evoked, it doesn't really matter.

My point is that without the snowballs, there would be no way to throw them off that house if their pvp was disabled. So technically the snowballs did kill her :P

Now that I think about it, I did use eggs lol. She has tons of chickens and I picked some up then threw them... Her place is littered with chicks now. xD
