Title: Dreams
Post by: MrChris13 on March 14, 2014, 07:34:45 AM
New topic! :D

Post all about your favorite dreams that you've had while sleeping! Or if you wanna share your nightmares, we're here for ya :P

My favorite dream that I've ever had was one time when I was spider-man. I could just spray webs all around the city and it was like I was flying. So much fun!

I have had this one dream, same exact one, and I've seen it at least 6 times in the last few years... Just waiting for that one to come true, LOL. Y'know, dreams freak me out; I hate this whole Deja vu thing. Seems like I'll dream something "realistic" and sometimes it might actually happen, word for word in real life. o.O  I hate it when people don't follow along after about 5 sentences.  :P

Anyone else get these? They really make NO sense, but I swear, they happen to me all the time, and usually if I can point out the 'dream' early as it starts happening, sometimes I can keep the vision going for around 2 minutes!  ???

You have a gift sir! Oh, and last night, I had a dream that we were having a sleepover because my parents had to go to Florida. Matthew was there too... Too bad I woke up in my own bed LOL

And what is this "gift" you speak of? Seems more like a curse to me...  :P  It's kinda creepy to be, say, on the phone with you guys and all of a sudden, I remember EXACTLY what you're gonna say next... Or what I should say next. XD Its weird though, I don't really recognize the dream, until other people react to it, not just myself (obviously)... Tell me I'm not the only one!

Oh man I get these ALL the time -- they're a type of Deja Vu called "Deja Reve" which is simply, you dreamed about something (usually exactly) before it happens.

I actually had a REALLY vivid dream the other night that left me sitting up in bed going "WAT".

I had dreamt that I needed to get into our fridge, in the bottom vegetable drawer  -- but i saw something moving in it. So i very VERY carefully opened it up, and found a little piebald black and white rat in it just chewing away at the cabbage. I wasn't horrified of him or anything, he was very pretty and adorable, but i remember thinking "aw crap, we have rats in the fridge, they must have come in from the landlord's barn behind the house..."

So I yell to my mum in the other room to ask her how we should get rid of them, because I don't want them hurt, but I obviously can't keep it as a pet. But my yelling startled them. I keep saying "Them" because suddenly a whole SWARM of rats comes FLEEING from the fridge. There had to be 30 of them -- all of them brown or dark grey, except for the black and white piebald one. Suddenly, they all  swerve around the kitchen table and run into the living room and climb into my mum's recliner. She had the laptop on her lap blocking her vision, so she's like "What are you yelling about!?"

I try to tell her there's an enormous colony of rats living in her recliner and she needs to get up NOW before either her or the rats get hurt. She sighs and says i'm crazy i'm just dreaming, and then reclines the foot of the chair. When she does, the little piebald rat pokes his head out from underneath, climbs up onto the footrest, and just nuzzles against her lap-blanket like it was our pet. o_o

Then Jim's alarm went off and I woke up ._.

I had this one dream where I was in an abandoned warehouse with people I've never seen before (even though you have seen everything in your dreams at one point in your life). In this dream, all i do is walk in circles until the people in the warehouse surround me, pick me up, and throw me into a fireplace.  ??? And then I woke up.

Hmm... We'll I should tell you about this one. I had a dream where I was mouse size. So I was in an office and there was a guy sitting in a chair. He said "huh?" Then he turned into a monster with no legs and followed me everywhere. And I was still tiny. Then I woke up with the fire alarm malfunctioning.

really! i go to school for 1 DAY and you manage to rack up 2 pages on a single thread! you guys have waaaaayyyy too much time on your hands...

anyway i has a lot of that Daja reve stuff, this one time, when i was like 4, i had a dream that i was standing next to my schools basketball hoop watching people set up for a basketball game and then i woke up. throughout the next the next five years, i kept waiting for the dream to come true just because i remembered it so vividly, but when i had the dream, there was one problem... our school didn't have a basket court :P. then at one point they started building one but by then i had forgotten the dream. Then when i was like 9, the school was setting for an event called sports day (really fun!) and i was standing next to the basketball hoop, then i remembered the dream... and watched it as it came true. I just kept thinking in my head how amazing brains are at doing this kind of thing, especially after 5 years!

then there's the dream that i used to have like once every year on the same day and it went like this: i would wake up in bed and everything in the room would be alive... i would then proceed to get out of bed and run into the tv room to get my dad but this blue old school like desk would have arms... and grab my arm so that i couldn't get him and, as in some dreams, i tried calling him but no noise came out then i would wake up. like i said, this went on for a few years and i got really annoyed at that desk... Then one night during the dream I was just done with this dream, so i yelled at the top of my lungs "STOP!" and oddly enough it worked... but then this weird little troll thing came out from behind my bed with a clipboard and checklist and told me that all but the slippers had signed the treaty (peace treaty?) and the desk had let go of my arm and then i looked down and saw the slippers still tapping away... That morning when i actually woke up, i dragged the desk out of my room and set it next to the tv cabinet and told my parents about what has been happening and so they left the desk there, and there it is to this day and i havn't had that same nightmare since  ;D

Then there's the weirdest dream i had: the first thing i remember is that the dream started with me in the bathroom... i quickly left there and went to my parents room because i wasn't feeling good but right after i stepped out out he bathroom the hallway was a realistic mine cart track and the way to my parents room was barcaded and since i wasn't smart enough to climb over it  i got in the realistic mine cart sitting on the tack and it started moving automatically, by the time it had reached my parents bedroom, i was just bored with this dream so i tried to wake myself up and when i did i was "teleported" back to my bed in a sleeping position and when i opened my eyes, everything (except my bed) was covered with giant spinning pennies (kinda like in mario :P)!  i decided to see where this new dream was heading so i decided to stay in the dream a bit longer, i got out of the bed and looked int he hallway and there was the mine cart track and mine cart and when i saw that i just gave up and woke up.

Strangely, I only have one kind of nightmare, and its really freaky. For some reason, I only have it when I'm sick and it goes like this: I wake up one day, it is still night, and I can't seem to move my body. I'm just lying there in the dark, then suddenly something starts pushing me down really hard. I barely can breath. Than random things come out of the ceiling (like a horse or a potato) and start raining on me. That's when I wake up.

If your having the same dream more than once it can be your subconscious trying to tell you something.

Umm let's see most dreams I remember the most are my nightmares, Sorry it's actually rare for me to dream to this day anyways, I think I just suppressed them or I may be blocking that level of REM sleep out of fear. Again sorry no dreams but I did get out of my bed and ask my friend "What time are we waking them up? In my sleep then went back to bed.

Next time it happens, if it's a potatoe, eat it. If it's a horse, ride it. You will not have any more of those dreams.

It's very possible that you're not actually dreaming-dreaming, and you're going through "Sleep Paralysis". I've experienced it once or twice, and both times it's been absolutely terrifying.

Quote
"Sleep paralysis is a phenomenon in which people, either when falling asleep or wakening, temporarily experience an inability to move (being paralyzed). More formally, it is a transition state between wakefulness and rest characterized by complete muscle atonia (muscle weakness). It can occur at sleep onset or upon awakening, and it is often associated with terrifying visions (e.g. an intruder in the room), to which one is unable to react due to paralysis. It is believed a result of disrupted REM sleep, which is normally characterized by complete muscle atonia that prevents individuals from acting out their dreams. ((Like when you see a pet moving their legs in their sleep like they're running? you do it too :D))"

The "intruder in the room" can be anything, but from what i've heard from others (and seems to be most common with me at least) was shadows, or black smokey figures. The ones I've seen have slipped under my bedroom door, manifested from the dark spot under my desk, and my best friend had one that "crawled through the window and made horrible scratching sounds".

It's also EXTREMELY common to feel and "see" the thing sit on your chest, making it feel hard to breathe, which only increases the panic the victim feels when they're unable to "wake".

---

The easiest way to "wake up" from this, is to try to ignore whatever's going on. The noises, the feelings, the visions -- ignore it completely. While you're trying to ignore it, start to wiggle your fingers and toes if you can. Focus on it. Don't try to move whole body parts yet, just your fingers/toes. Once you can get them to move, go bigger, and move your hands/feet. Then your arms, and shoulders, your neck and head, try and wiggle around, but don't sit up until you are 100% sure you can move, or you could fall out of bed and plop onto the floor (it's happened to me before and it was both funny and terrifying, because it can start all over again and the shadows under the bed will be enough to make you scream like a little girl on your first roller coaster, lol)

The only way i know to really prevent it, is to de-stress before bed, and make sure you're hydrated, and fully rested. Don't go to bed angry/upset (or try not to), drink lots of water (have a glass of water/water bottle beside your bed), and don't ever follow any of those "Lucid Dreaming" posts you see on the internet, because they're bogus, lol.

Also, don't google image search sleep paralysis, there's some scary stuff in there o_o

My older brother used to get this all the time, except there was no "intruder". He said he would wake up, but he couldn't move at all and he'd start to panic trying to move parts of his body.

And Ghouls, Lucid Dreaming is totally not bogus. I've done it twice. You have to be completely calm in order not to wake yourself. I've only been able to keep at it a couple of seconds, though, before I wake up. It'd be neat to be able to control your dream fully without waking up. Usually I wake up when I Lucid Dream because I get really excited.

(Lucid Dreaming is when you can realize that you're dreaming and you can just do whatever you want.)

Sort of... I think I do it unconsciously by now. I've been able to do it since I was in first grade. I think there are two possibilities. The first being that I know I'm dreaming, and therefore I know I can manipulate. The other being that I do not know I'm dreaming and I feel like it's reality, and can thus make decision as if it was reality.

Honestly, I don't think dreams mean anything. I think they are an in-the-moment thing that may be influenced by what happened the day before. I do, however, have fun playing with dreams. It can give me ideas on a story/game. Also, another advantage to being able to lucid dream is that I never have bad dreams because when I start to have one, I can always turn it into a good dream. :D One time, I was even able to rewind time in my dream. :D

Oh, and also, RR_Luke, I don't have to calm myself, it just happens :P

Another weird dream to add to the pile! \ o /

In this one, I was younger. WAY younger. Like, 12 or 13 years old -- and for some reason, i was an orphan with my little brother (who was about the same age as me, instead of 4 years younger). He and I were playing a game where your actions changed the outcome of your life IRL. We got to a medieval tavern, where we had the options to make different food to serve to the Queen of England...

The options were: a Loaf of French Bread, A Cherry Pie, A Fancy Lemon Tart, and A Mincemeat Pie. The first time I picked an option, I picked the Cherry Pie. Then you had to choose at what time to give the Queen the pie. The options for that, were: At breakfast, At Tea, At Lunch, For Dessert, or For Cookie (which was basically "a midnight snack"). I chose For Dessert, and went through a sequence where we were all sitting in this HUGE grand dining hall with golden dinnerware and the Queen took a bite of my pie, saying Cherry Pie was one of her favorite desserts, and that I was such a clever child for being able to bake one so perfectly -- but the lady at the end of the table (her daughter-in-law? I'm not sure who she was) got jealous, and suddenly ordered that her daughter's lemon tart be served next.
The queen tried it, and when asked which one she preferred, she had to choose her granddaughter's , or else she'd shame her. I apparently failed the sequence, and was brought back to the medieval tavern with the options put in front of me again.

The next time, i chose the mincemeat pie. Before I could even get the option of when to serve it to the queen, a giant Bone-Troll comes bursting out of the building, sending splintered wood everywhere and talking about smashing me. I immediately hit pause, and went back to my last save, lol.

So I finally chose the cherry pie again, but this time I decided to serve it "For Cookie", and got to walk through the castle to find the Queen in her bedroom getting ready for bed, and talking about how she wanted to sneak down into the kitchen for a snack, but she knew her family would be on patrol in the hallways to keep her from doing so. I came in, and offered her a smaller personal version of the cherry pie. She was overjoyed, and ate it, and then hugged me and said it was exactly what she'd been craving. She then called her butler-guy into the room, and demanded that he bring in my adoption papers at once, that she would love to have me as her own daughter, and teach me to bake all kinds of other things, and that i would "surely be a better daughter than (insert name of other girl here???)".
So apparently I got adopted by the Queen of England.

But it didn't end there ._.

As the daughter of the Queen, I got to do all kinds of things with her. We went horseback riding and saw musicals, and all kinds of awesome things. She decided to put on our own musical with her children & grandchildren, but her daughter-in-law wanted nothing to do with it since she was "too old" to be involved, which made the Queen upset, that she lost our most talented seamstress. I convinced her to finish the giant Glinda-the-good-witch-looking dress herself, and as the set began to be put together around me (two mossy trees that curved like staircases to meet in the middle, just above the Glinda Dress) I started to sing "Think of Me" from Phantom of the Opera... Which in dream-form,

I sang AMAZINGLY.

The Queen was so incredibly taken aback that I could sing so well, she immediately made me the lead part, but then realized she had to make the dress entirely from scratch now, because it wouldn't fit me, as i'm too fat, lol.

I have to say, this is one of my weirder ones... XD

I'll share one of my dreams, it's almost like a story...

One day I found myself on a raft with my father and 2 sisters (Roslyn, and Evelyn). We were lost in the ocean heading towards what appears to be a island covered by really long wheat. As we near the island, we see that some of the wheat tend to move, as if there were someone running within them. We finally got towards land and we start to depart the raft. My father decided we should look for food as we weren't sure how long we were on that raft but we were all starving.

The hunt began for food, we found a few trees with apples and avocados, oranges. We started to eat away. As the sun started to drift away, and the dark began to show it's presence. We started to hear some weird noises. My sisters were startled because it almost sounded as if there were people surrounding us, but we were lead to believe we were the only ones on this island.

As the noises grew louder, and the wheat started to move more frequently, we decided to arm ourselves with sticks in case we needed to defend ourselves. All of a sudden these people came out of no where with long sticks, they were about 3 ft tall and yelling at us. They point for us to follow them, and we did out of fear.

As we arrived to a town like area with many huts, campfires and a lot more of them, we realized that in the campfire they were cooking. I recall my father saying that he believed they were bad people. I became scared and worried.

I decided to inform my father and sisters that I will lure their attention on to me and for him to take my sisters and go back to the raft and leave. I started to run into the wheat, the bad guys started to chase me. My father and sisters dissappeared and headed to the raft. I had the bad guys chasing me for a while, then I decided to head towards the raft.

As I got closer to the raft, I started to yell "pull away, pull away" so that my father could push away from land, and I could just swim to them. As I got there I noticed that they already had trapped the raft.

Then I woke up lol. crazy huh? lol

Isnt thinking dreams are real just normal dreams? Otherwise they are lucid and you can control everything, (which ive been trying to do for like 2 years) xP
