Someone griefed the storage area of my clan and somehow destroyed the chests?

If the chests were unlocked and only secured through the precious stones prevent-use flag, then the person who destroyed the chests was someone allowed in the field.  Show a staff member where the grief is when you see one online, and please don't repair the grief until a staff has had a chance to look over the damage, as that makes it much harder for us to see what happened.

I had originally put an emerald block over the chests and only allowed access to players who were in my clan (they could only use their chest, no one else's).

So your griefer is a clan member.
