Title: Post something interesting.
Post by: mathfreak2 on September 02, 2015, 10:52:58 AM
I just spent the last few minutes looking at poetry describing boredom at breakfast. That's how bored I am right now. Please reply to this thread with something interesting. Can be whatever, as long as it's interesting!

Thanks you Rowan, now I have a use for all my useless facts I know. XD

Here we go.
A main difference between octopuses and squid is that, while octopi have 8 tentacles, squid have 10

Going back to the octopus now. octopi, octopuses, and octopodes are all valid for the plural of octopus, though octopuses is the most common spelling in the US and UK according to google

the most poisonous land snake in the world is the inland taipan snake

jellyfish are inefficient swimmers, and mainly rely on currents to move

another fact about jellyfish is that they have no heart or brain

adding some olive or vegetable oil to water when boiling an egg will help keep the egg from spilling out if the shell breaks while cooking

time lords can regenerate a total of 12 times, meaning in total they normally have 13 faces, though the doctor kept one face (tennant) through a regeneration, AND in the "day of the doctor" (?) he gained another regeneration (at least the one, though it is possible its a whole new set, or it might even be an infinite amount)

the deepest point in the ocean is located in the Mariana trench

*takes a breath* that's it for now, I may have more later on though

Ok, something interesting here then
Did you know they have a complete substation offshore placed on a single pile for windparks!
the foundations of these things are pretty fascinating (as for the windturbines themselves too)

Okay, so you know how I do. This is probably only stuff that is interesting to me, but I will share it all (again) anyhow.

These will be links to click incase anyone does not like insects.

The most beautiful bee I have ever seen. I saw him at a local wildlife trail:

The teeny tiniest spider I have ever seen. :3 He was on my printer.

A cicada shedding his hard outer shell. He will dry out for a few hours, then go play music in the treetops. If you are not lucky enough to have cicadas where you live, I am sorry. Here in the south we call them "Dry-flies". They sound so beautiful. This one was in my yard.

A tiny amazing little arachnid called a psuedoscorpian. I found him on the picnic table:

A local old railroad bridge I just think is pretty:

My turtle Morla.

Me: because let's face it, by now you all expect this one.

And another:

But no seriously.. This is actually a real Jim Henson character from the movie "Labyrinth" (one of my favorite movies!) It's Hoggle. He was lost and landed at a local unclaimed baggage center. When the unclaimed baggage center tried to return him, Jim Henson studions did not need it back. It was restored by a local artist and is now kept on display at the unclaimed baggage center. :D

A little sundog spot

A section of a local miniature city built by a gentleman who was legally blind:

A tree that got broken and bent, but would not give up

The most charming, silly, adorable spider I have ever seen in my life! He sat there and washed his little face. When cars would pass by it would startle him and he'd dash away, then he would return to sit by me. :3

I have more but I will stop for now and save some space for other people, lol.
