I've been singing this to myself for several months now. Decided to share.
This goes with the music of Petula Clark's 1965 hit "Downtown." Google it. No, not the other one, the version sung by Petula Clark. Ok, heard the music now? Proceed.

Wow! I love it! Your a good song writer

I love the in-line rhymes and the awareness of the number of syllables in each line. The number of lines in each stanza is consistent, too. I love all of it! Just one suggestion: most songs have a chorus; maybe what you could do next is write a chorus and put it in between every stanza. I absolutely love it!

Thanx all :D
The original song uses the approach where the part that sounds like a chorus has different words each time. I don't know if it still counts as a chorus. The meter and music change several times in the song, but in a repeating and related way, so it's almost more like a piece of classical music with a complicated construction even though it's a short, upbeat pop song.
When I riff off a song, steal the music and write new lyrics like this, I also try to keep some of the same word sounds and word relations, so the lyrics sound similar to the original, even when my parody/homage is about something totally different. (Like I rewrote Billy Joel's love song "For the Longest Time" so it's about waiting in traffic on the freeway).
In this case the song is closer to the original: it's all about an exciting and wonderful place! Thanks all for making it so great there!
