General Discussion / Computer Setup Tours! Where do YOU play Famcraft?« on: August 26, 2015, 10:04:25 AM »
Hello Famcrafters!
A while back, there was a thread dedicated to showing off your computer setup, and I want to start another that's updated! My setup has come a long way since I started Famcraft, and I would like to show it to you! Note: Respond with any pictures/special information about your computer! I'd love to see where YOU play Famcraft! Onto my tour! Here you will see the setup in all of its glory! I'll dig into each thing one by one, showing you the function of each and how I use it! Let's start: Here you will see my semi-custom Dell Optiplex 780. As it came, I have upgraded to this: Graphics card: From: Nothing. To: EVGA Geforce GTX 650 1GB GDDR5 CPU: From: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @3.00GHz To: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @2.83Ghz RAM: From: 4GB DDR3 To: 8GB DDR3 Everything else is stock, and you can see the specs here: http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/optix/en/optiplex_780_tech_guidebook_en.pdf Here you can see my 3 monitors, one at a 16:9 aspect ratio, and the other two at 4:3. These fit my editing/gameplay purposes fantastically, as I use the side ones for music/Skype windows. Middle monitor: Acer S200HL @ 1600x900 Side monitors: NEC LCD92VX x2 @ 1280x1024 I have gone through quite a few different mice and keyboards leading up to the ones I have now, which were both passed down from my older brother when he got more professional ones. They're not very fancy, but they work like a charm and have suited my needs very well. I also got a custom CaptainSparklez (signed!) mousepad that I absolutely love. It's super colorful, and a pleasure to look at! Mouse: Xornet CM Storm Gaming Mouse Keyboard: Tt eSPORTS KNUCKER Gaming Keyboard This is one of my favorite peripherals that I own. It's a Logitech G930 Wireless Gaming headset charged with 10 hours of battery (on a full charge) and REALLY packs the bass! It comes with an advanced equalizer that is extremely customizable, and I've had a great time using it for the past 8 months. Now, I would LIKE to have an on-brand Xbox controller, but I decided instead to get a $20 rip off, which has actually suited me quite well... The only problem in these rip offs, though, is the bumpers. They break quite easily during shipping, so I don't exactly have a functional left bumper... Gotta have dat 90's swiveling gray computer chair! So fancy... I have had these Sylvania speakers for around 3 years now, and they've given me nothing but good sound the whole time. Definately a good buy, and I would totally recommend these to anyone looking for big bass and crisp, clean, treble. This microphone, the Blue Snowball iCE, has suited me well for over 2 years now. It was $50, and can record REALLY well for what it is. I have it on a NEEWER Sissor-Arm Microphone Stand which I got very recently. It plugs right into it, and can hold it with ease (the mic is around 3 pounds!) Gotta have somewhere to put mah juicy drinks! Can't have my throat running dry during those long livestreams (Menchies is a great frozen yogurt place, highly recommended!) Thanks for reading! I'm looking forward to seeing what your setups look like! -Chris AKA MrChris13 4
General Discussion / Re: I wish Famcraft knew....« on: August 26, 2015, 08:33:15 AM »I wish Famcraft knew how much of an impact it made on my life, I would go so far to say that it was the biggest. When I first joined the server in 2012 I was an immature kid and Famcraft taught me so much. 2 years later I was transformed into a more respectable, and responsible human being. Famcraft is the best thing that has ever happened in my life, I remember looking forward every day to playing Famcraft for hours apon hours. Just now reading this, Rundrop, and I must say, this is pretty much my exact same story. I came onto Famcraft as an immature, self-centered person, and was taught a lot by the way others acted. Caring for each other, helping each other, I had never seen such a wonderful place. Famcraft helped me become who I am today, I like to think I would have still been that guy that says stupid things all the time if it weren't for Famcraft... I still have trouble with being mean to people on accident sometimes, and making them feel bad, but it's way better than it was before. Thank you Famcraft! 5
General Discussion / A Journey – A Friendship« on: July 26, 2015, 09:50:21 PM »
One day, Luke was searching for a new server; the one he had been playing on was abandoned due to lack of funds. He loved the Precious Stones plugin that was used on the old server, so he Googled “precious stones minecraft server”. There were many results, the top one being “Famcraft.com”. Luke clicked on this website and saw that this server had Precious Stones, as well as all the other plugins he wanted. He also noticed that it was a “family friendly” server, and quickly typed in the IP address.
The day was around January 9th, 2013: Luke’s 16th birthday. Upon logging in, Luke was greeted by players of all ages welcoming him to the server. He was given a tour by a mythical staff member named RubensCherub, and instantly he knew that he had found a server as good as the one he had lost; maybe better. As Luke became more familiar with the server, he invited his younger brother, Chris, to join the fray. Chris was 14, and his parents frowned upon him chatting with strangers on the internet, meaning that he was not allowed to have chat enabled on Minecraft. Famcraft quickly became an exception as Luke informed his parents that it was a family friendly server: no swearing or inappropriate jokes, messages, or builds were allowed. Luke and Chris came to know the server better than any other. They met friends: RubensCherub who they called Anna, Thoatt, eGI, Rundrop, experiencedgamer, somehobo365 who they called Jared (later known as FamcraftHobo), HardcoreGamer24, SilverWolfLady known as Miranda, KittyMew113, iluvyuki144 (later known as YukiIjirashii) and importantly for Chris: StitchAKA626. Stitch was Chris’ age and liked the same things as Chris; they soon connected like flesh to bones. Stitch had a friend since the first grade named vespamartio, whom Chris was later informed didn’t like him at the time. Chris was introduced to Mumble: the voice chat software Famcrafters used to communicate easier while playing. He installed this program on his computer and, at first shyly, joined into the conversation. The Famcraft experience was greater when he was able to converse using his microphone. Chris was able to bond even better with Stitch and, as he became to know him, vespa. Inside jokes were made, teamwork was incorporated, and friendship became stronger. As Chris came to know Stitch and vespa better, he began to talk to them for hours each day which prompted him to add them to his Skype list. Their trust of each other grew until they shared their full names and addresses, no longer were they known as Stitch and vespa, but as Jordan and Matthew (although they did not show their faces until nearly a full year later). Chris was devastated to learn that they lived in Florida; a long ways from his house in North Carolina, and was determined to meet them one day. After two years, Jordan learned that he was going on vacation in a cabin in Tennessee mere miles from Chris’ house. Knowing that this was an opportunity to meet one another, Chris asked his parents if they would be willing to host Jordan’s family for a cookout on Jordan’s way home to Florida. Chris’ parents having said yes, Jordan had his parents invite Matthew on their vacation, and the plans were settled: they would meet on June 13th. Thus, after 5 months of planning and waiting, the day finally came. (toastme3 is my cousin) I would like to sincerely thank the creators of Famcraft, bknysnake and micahdg, for helping me meet my internet friends, those who I now title my best friends. Although we don’t play on the Famcraft server as much as we used to, we still spend hours a day chatting with each other, and it’s all because of you that we’ve become such good friends. Thank you. Sincerely, MrChris13 (This is my 1000th post, nothing to see here) 6

Beware of the wild Stitch. He is vicious if provoked.
In all seriousness, this is amazing. Keep up the good work! 7

General Discussion / Re: EULA« on: June 19, 2014, 03:17:37 PM »Hopefully we will have an answer soon. There are alot of perks and rewards that could potentially be lost. I know that I will stay with this server no matter what. It isn't about what powered goodies you can get. Its about being the crafting family we all are. Yes, but without the donor perks, no one would want to donate. And without donations, Famcraft wouldn't be able to stay up. 13
General Discussion / Re: New Minecraft EULA and Famcraft« on: June 17, 2014, 01:43:30 PM »
I've been worrying about this for quite some time, many of my favorite servers, including Famcraft, would be effected if this comes into play. People are doing #SaveMinecraft on social networks and spamming Notch about it, so we have that. I've been reading up on this quite a bit and have figured out that it's been mostly caused because of parents hounding Mojang after their children buy ridiculously priced perks on bad servers. The reason they don't hound the servers that are actually in the wrong is because the parents would search for "Contact Minecraft" instead of "Contact (Server Name Here)". The only thing that shows up on their bill is "Minecraft" and so they take it out on Mojang. The way Mojang has responded to this shocks me, I'm very surprised they would punish the whole of the Minecraft multiplayer experience just because of some bad mail from some angry parents. I hope the angry mob of what was once happy players can somewhat change the new EULA.
