Given that I am not a sports person, could you explain how that works, please?

A bracket is a form of elimination where two teams/people play against each other, and the winner advances while the loser is out of the game. It is used in many games like the World Cup and basketball. It is called that because it looks like brackets. (See picture)

On topic I might want to play.
