Additionally, don't worry about asking questions in chat--that's how we all got started! (I still do, from time to time ) Staff and players are all really friendly here, and love to help new players learn the ropes!

Not like you have enough else on your plate, but just FYI: I'm getting a "502 bad gateway" for the map lately.

Just in case it helps anybody else navigate the map and bookmark their own builds:
I caught on pretty quickly that my old bookmarks needed to be adjusted a bit to work on the new map. What might have been a bookmark to the default map view at spawn: http://map.famcraft.com/#/-82444/64/155079/-2/0/0(BTW, this actually takes you to spawn anyway, as all "wrong" map URLs default the map to spawn.)Now had URL coordinates in a slightly different format: https://map.famcraft.com/#main/0/20/-82444/155079/64
But here's some map behavior that perplexed me a bit longer until I figured it out. If I have 2 map locations bookmarked, open a new browser tab, and click the 1st bookmark--everything's fine. I zoom right to that spot. However, if I then click the 2nd bookmark--nothing happens. The map stays where it was. But if I open a NEW browser tab and click that 2nd bookmark--the correct 2nd location appears. Weird, huh?

That was SO cool--thanks for sharing it, Sean_Crafting!!! (I hope when you're actually camping, you don't share food by throwing it on the ground! It might spoil your friends' appetites. )

Yes--if you use the default setting on the Minecraft Launcher, it will always grab the most recent release. This usually works fine, but not during the time between a new release and when all of the various plug-ins are updated so that Famcraft itself can safely be updated to the new version. Check out this thread for instructions on how to get into Famcraft.

This thread will probably get moved by an admin, but here's an answer for now.
(Please see the attached images if this is not clear.)
Open the Minecraft Launcher. Click "Launch options" in the upper right. Click "+ Add new" to create a new launch profile.
For "Name", give the profile a name that will make sense to you. For "Version", click the dropdown arrow and select "release 1.12.2" Click "SAVE". Click "News" in the upper left.
Back on the main Launcher screen, click the arrow to the right of the "PLAY" button. Select the new launch profile you just created for 1.12.2 . Click the "PLAY" button. Famcraft ahoy!

The following is a FamcraftTM certified contract This is probably not a great idea unless you have specific permission from an admin. I don't know that Famcraft officially supports things like this, and that line suggests it does.

Are you using the Windows version of the Minecraft launcher? Googling around a bit, here's a suggestion (which I have not tried):
- install Forge via its Windows installer (--it was suggested that Java is not necessary for this?) - put the .jar file downloaded from OptiFine into %APPDATA%\.minecraft\mods
Any luck?
(For the record, you actually are using Java, because Java is required for Minecraft. The Microsoft launcher just downloads its own version of Java and doesn't install it for the global system. At least, this is my understanding of the environment.)

Here are a couple things you might show your parents: To the parents of our players.Info for ParentsBut also remember that your parents are simply looking out for you. It took a little while for me to allow my daughter to Minecraft anywhere on her own.

Ropes, but different from the current vines. Single strands that can be fastened to something at one end or both, and can be combined for really long lengths.
You could hold on and swing on them like a monkey. You could build actual swings. You could hang one near the water, swing on it, and then let go, being flung into the ol' watering hole from a great height.
Think of the traps you could make with swinging ropes (Ewoks, anyone?) or even the great Rube Goldberg creations that these could trigger!

When you reply, under the big white text area is "Attachments and other options". Click that, and you'll be able to choose your file to attach.
