Plea to be unbanned / I'm not banned (as far as I know)...

...but this is the only forum I can post in.

I can't start a post, reply to a post or edit any of my posts on the forums. I tried multiple browsers all with the same results.
I have been able to send messages (I hope they went through) and post an auction - that's when I discovered this glitch is coming here to create a post about the auction listing.

Famcraft Survival / Mob Farm Conundrum (warning: math!)

So I built a creeper farm with the hoppers collecting the kill at y=62. The farm is in the air with a 33 block drop and 10 spawning platforms above that, putting the roof at y = 125.

So the well-understood mechanics of Minecraft put a spawning sphere around the player at 128 blocks (euclidean - meaning the Pythagorean theorem will work when calculating a distance between two points). Inside of 24 blocks, nothing spawns - so there is a chance to spawn a mob from 24 to 128 blocks from the player.

Despawning begins to occur at 32 blocks. A greater percentage chance the further away from the player the mob is until finally at 128 blocks despawning is 100%.

So given all that information, Y=190 is 128 blocks from Y=62 (the hopper/kill area). If I stand there or any higher, the creeper will despawn before it is killed. Alternatively if I stand close to the farm, I'm bringing the ground more and more into that spawning sphere of 128 blocks (and any holes/caves that may exists underground) so the chance of mob spawns outside of the farm increase, reducing efficiency.

So I put a AFK platform at Y = 187, which puts me just inside the 128 limit in order to minimize any ground spawning and virtually eliminate any UNDERground spawning.

But when I stand on this platform, the farm won't work. In THEORY it should, but it doesn't. All the tutorials also put AFK platforms just inside that 128 limit as well. What am I missing here?

Other notes:
  • The PS field has mob spawning allowed
  • I know server mob cap is a thing but I think given the theory above, it should at least work slightly better if I reduce the chance of outside-the-farm spawning in my loaded chunks.
  • The farm works, I'm just trying to get it to work a bit better.

I'm selling a purchased skeleton spawner. Get all the bones, enchanted bows and arrows you could ever want! Good for a nearby XP farm too without making a trip all the way to the Enderman farm.

Normally these cost $500,000 to get from an admin. The auction starts at $150,000 since it costs $100,000 to move the spawner so that's baked into the cost. You pay me the Auction price and I'll pay to move the spawner.

I put a starting bid in for a main mall shop, but it shows the original username I signed up with and not my current in-game name. I was not able to edit it.

The auction shows "Enderville" which was my original name a while ago, but it's currently "Zerop". Is this an issue for the auction or is it fixable?

Famcraft Survival / Selling spawners?

Hello, Famcrafters on the forum!

A little while ago, I bought a skele spawner and built around it, it's fantastic. Recently, I stumbled upon a naturally generated one one that was super close to my base. So the questions are:

Can I sell a spawner? (This would need an Admin's help to move it with the 100k cost I assume.)

Can I refund the one I bought (even at a reduced amount)?

Can I change the one I bought to a different type? (I think I saw somewhere the answer to this one is "Nope".)

Basically, I don't need two spawners of the same type and I am looking to recoup the some of the cost of my original purchase (which I think was roughly a year ago?)

I know there's usually new blocks with updates but I think it would be awesome if Concrete could be added to the Builder job (place and break). Could be even better if coins could be made making the concrete too.

Famcraft Survival / Questions about structure moving

I'm entertaining the idea of requesting the move of a large area so I just want to plan this out before I even decide to do it. So a couple of questions:

1. I assume I give the coordinates and starting height of the move and what coordinates and height I want as the destination? All moved blocks will replace the destination blocks at said coordinates, correct? I guess what I really want to know is that all blocks BELOW the target destination remain intact?
2. What doesn't move? For example, do the entities move, i.e., iron golems, villagers, pets, torches? All chests and items in said chests move?
3. Do PS fields move?
4. Does the source area remain a flat space after the move?

Famcraft Survival / How to buy a spawner?

Hello,

Couple of questions:

1. As the title suggests, how does one go about purchasing a spawner?

2. If I protect the spawner with an emerald PS field to turn it on and off but that Emerald PS field is inside a diamond PS field, does the diamond field also have to have the prevent-mob-spawn toggled or does the inner emerald field override the diamond one?

Famcraft Survival / New things/behaviors since 1.13 update

Hi all,

I didn't see a thread discussing what changes and behaviors we have discovered since the update, so I'd like to start one just to stay informed. The thing is, I haven't been on in a while and just came back this week since the update happened and was surprised by a few things. If you have anything to add to this thread, please do so as I (and others) would like to be in the know.

My observations in one night so far:

    • Sign gates, doors and bridges aren't working (plugin issue) - so my portcullis is stuck closed (better than being stuck open I guess!)
    • I'm being attacked by Phantoms in my PS zones. Since people on the server usually don't sleep, Phantoms spawn even in PS zones. This means my Keep walls are no longer safe to traverse at night!
    • I had a cat with me and the Phantoms still attacked. They were not deterred by the presence of the cat. Not sure it being a tamed Ocelot made any difference.
    • The "/raffle winners" command isn't present in the new raffle plugin.
    • At /Warp farms the villagers seem to have been freed from their booths.
    • Also, at the warp point of farms, (the welcome building) there is a constant sound of pistons triggering but I see nothing moving.

    What else?

Bugs and glitches / Signs plugin

So I'm sure we all know the signs plugin is only semi-functional since the update.
My question is: are we ...
1) waiting for the dev to update the plugin?
2) are the admins looking for a replacement?
or
3) letting it be for now and maybe revisit it in the future?

Just wondering where we're at so I can determine if I should be patient and wait or take apart my portcullis to work with redstone and add that project to my to-do list.

Famcraft Survival / What Resource Packs do you use?

What are some of the resource/texture packs folks out there are using on Famcraft? My kids keep asking me to install one for them - they want it fancy, with a shader and resource pack. But, wow, are there a lot out there! Some are really resource intensive, cost real money or are incomplete.

On a related note, are there any nice shader packs that doesn't make the torchlight way too orange? Seems like every one I've tried does that. As the most common light source in Minecraft, I don't want my interiors completely orange.

So, Famcraft community, if you aren't playing stock vanilla, what do you use?

I am getting an "Unknown Command" when I try to use "/bb clear". Do I have something set up wrong?
