I know there's usually new blocks with updates but I think it would be awesome if Concrete could be added to the Builder job (place and break). Could be even better if coins could be made making the concrete too.

Famcraft Survival / Questions about structure moving

I'm entertaining the idea of requesting the move of a large area so I just want to plan this out before I even decide to do it. So a couple of questions:

1. I assume I give the coordinates and starting height of the move and what coordinates and height I want as the destination? All moved blocks will replace the destination blocks at said coordinates, correct? I guess what I really want to know is that all blocks BELOW the target destination remain intact?
2. What doesn't move? For example, do the entities move, i.e., iron golems, villagers, pets, torches? All chests and items in said chests move?
3. Do PS fields move?
4. Does the source area remain a flat space after the move?

Famcraft Survival / How to buy a spawner?

Couple of questions:

1. As the title suggests, how does one go about purchasing a spawner?

2. If I protect the spawner with an emerald PS field to turn it on and off but that Emerald PS field is inside a diamond PS field, does the diamond field also have to have the prevent-mob-spawn toggled or does the inner emerald field override the diamond one?

Famcraft Survival / New things/behaviors since 1.13 update

Hi all,

I didn't see a thread discussing what changes and behaviors we have discovered since the update, so I'd like to start one just to stay informed. The thing is, I haven't been on in a while and just came back this week since the update happened and was surprised by a few things. If you have anything to add to this thread, please do so as I (and others) would like to be in the know.

My observations in one night so far:

    • Sign gates, doors and bridges aren't working (plugin issue) - so my portcullis is stuck closed (better than being stuck open I guess!)
    • I'm being attacked by Phantoms in my PS zones. Since people on the server usually don't sleep, Phantoms spawn even in PS zones. This means my Keep walls are no longer safe to traverse at night!
    • I had a cat with me and the Phantoms still attacked. They were not deterred by the presence of the cat. Not sure it being a tamed Ocelot made any difference.
    • The "/raffle winners" command isn't present in the new raffle plugin.
    • At /Warp farms the villagers seem to have been freed from their booths.
    • Also, at the warp point of farms, (the welcome building) there is a constant sound of pistons triggering but I see nothing moving.

    What else?

Bugs and glitches / Signs plugin

So I'm sure we all know the signs plugin is only semi-functional since the update.
My question is: are we ...
1) waiting for the dev to update the plugin?
2) are the admins looking for a replacement?
3) letting it be for now and maybe revisit it in the future?

Just wondering where we're at so I can determine if I should be patient and wait or take apart my portcullis to work with redstone and add that project to my to-do list.


Famcraft Survival / What Resource Packs do you use?

What are some of the resource/texture packs folks out there are using on Famcraft? My kids keep asking me to install one for them - they want it fancy, with a shader and resource pack. But, wow, are there a lot out there! Some are really resource intensive, cost real money or are incomplete.

On a related note, are there any nice shader packs that doesn't make the torchlight way too orange? Seems like every one I've tried does that. As the most common light source in Minecraft, I don't want my interiors completely orange.

So, Famcraft community, if you aren't playing stock vanilla, what do you use?

Famcraft Survival / A couple of clan setting questions

How does one rename a clan? Not the nickname, but the actual clan. Do we just disband and make a new one? (I'm guessing yes.)

Also, we were away for a while and everyone but me (the clan owner) was removed from the clan. I read somewhere about auto-kick but can't find any more detailed information. Is this a setting I can set or is it server-side? If it's server-side, what is it set at?


Famcraft Survival / Moving items over distance

It would seem minecarts are a natural fit for moving items over distances, but alas, you run into unloaded chunks and the minecarts pause. I have a simple rail going from chunk 2115 x 2101 to 2122 x 2121. As far as chunks go, not very far - a maximum of 20 chunks in the north/south direction. The minecarts don't get very far before they "become invisible". I can still see the track and further rendered blocks, but the cart disappears unless I also move forward.

How many chunks out from the player on the server do chunks pause? Is this different than the render distance? Good to know for other such things too like crops or smelting.

Most importantly, how do people move items in bulk from place to place? Do I always have to ride behind my chest minecarts in a train? Will it work with a player at either end standing in applicable chunks so that there are no paused chunks between them? (I sense an experiment coming...)

Lots of questions. Information is good.

General Discussion / Minimap Mods

So I was just perusing the rules again (I like to keep my kids refreshed on them) and noticed the blurb about the allowed mods. I decided it was time to investigate and find that Rei's MiniMap Mod hasn't been developed in a long time - the last version being for 1.6.2, the official thread locked and people making their own edits of the mod (which was specifically frowned upon by the dev when they were active.) The download links for the last version no longer work either.

Is there a new recommendation for a minimap mod? I watched a video on YouTube about JourneyMap

Would this mod be allowed?

So my boys were exploring around the area we designated as our "home". I play upstairs in our loft while both of them are on PC's on the 1st floor. Well, suddenly, they became very excited and had to show me what they discovered.

They found four FULL shulker boxes with FULL stacks of diamonds. That's 27 stacks of 64 diamonds each ... times four. That's 6,912 Diamonds.

Pulling some stats on the players I know are nearby based on homes, signs, clan labels and clan lookups .. ya know, general sleuthing, in my opinion, there is no way someone has amassed that kind of stash without some form of cheats in a survival world.

Regardless of my opinion, this is INCREDIBLY tempting to my boys. I can't even begin to describe how tempting this is to a six and nine year old. Simply put, they want to loot it since it was made public and not in a PS zone.

I have made them leave it alone. I'm not sure how long that will last given I don't always play with them (I have a day job) and did I mention how tempting such a find is to kids?

Here's the thing: I don't want my boys to be banned for griefing when such a thing is dangled in front of them and is what I consider to be an obvious cheat in a survival world.

Can something be done? Can a mod remove the obvious ill-gained cheat stash or is it well within my boys' rights to loot it?

Famcraft Survival / LWC question

Hello fellow Famcrafters.

I see the LWC plugin allows adding groups to permissions - is this used in any way in Famcraft? I want to be able to add the clan to certain chests, switches and items. But using the group feature doesn't seem to work. Do I have to add everyone by name every time?

Famcraft Survival / Pushing Minecarts

Hi there, folks. Quick question.

Why can I not push minecarts when I'm not riding in one? There is no collision, I walk right through it when I want to nudge it forward. Minecart collision works when it's another minecart doing the pushing, but not when I just try and push it into position when I'm walking.

This works in my own generated worlds, just wondering why it's like this in Famcraft.

I appreciate any responses.
