IRC Down?
« Opened on June 07, 2013, 07:29:02 PM »
When I try to connect to IRC, it tells me in a MessageBox "Couldn't connect to remote server." Is it just me, or is IRC down? :P

The problem here is that the irc on forum tries to connect to chaos.esper.net which is one of many servers, so if chaos goes down,we cant connect. Had it been set to irc.esper.net it would find a working network and connect to it. Ive tried looking for the code micah added when this feature was added, but  cant seem to find it. Im not certain if micah remembers where he put the code.

It doesn't use any of those anymore, that was when it was using Mibbit. I've since switched it away from Mibbit to http://webchat.esper.net which is EsperNet's own browser-based chat client. EsperNet's webchat was offline for a day or so because it was hit with a rather large DDoS attack, and was nullrouted while the attack was going on.

Things should be working normally again, the attack stopped so the webchat is back online.
