Famcraft may have a lot of rules, but each and every one serves an important purpose. We do not make or enforce these rules lightly.
Every rule we have is intended to protect the players or the server it's self.
I was saddened when you questioned why it mattered, even if it is a rule. The fact that it is a rule should be enough, but I would like to explain a little more about why it matters.
Rule 5 - Do not discuss other servers while using any of Famcraft's services. That includes talking bad about other servers, too. While we appreciate players wanting to share their experiences from other servers, many new players join the server only to advertise their own server. Devious players we punish for breaking other rules often try to advertise other servers to draw people away from Famcraft out of spite. Due to these types of examples, we don't allow discussion of any other server while in-game, on mumble, or in our forums.
The rule it's self explains some of it, but there is so much more to it than that.
When players mention or discuss other servers in ANY way, positive, negative or otherwise, the very first instinct of 90% of the players is to hop over and see what the server being discussed is like.
If and when the player does visit the new server, there are many different things that can happen there.
*The new sever may have swearing or other mature discussion we do not want younger members exposed to. While these servers do exist anyhow, and anyone can find them with google, we do not want them to find those places as a direct result of Famcraft.
*The new server may have rules that are different from Famcraft's rules and may cause confusion.
*Players may think the server mentioned is somehow related to Famcraft, like Famcraft FTB is.
*Players may argue on the other server, or even grief/unwanted pvp if the rules are different, then bring that tension back to Famcraft.
*Players may go to a new server, and advertise Famcraft- We are every bit as much against this as we are players advertising other servers here. We NEVER want players to try to advertise Famcraft on other servers. It can bring in unpleasant or even angry members from the other server. D: We like to keep any relations with other servers peaceful. Everyone works to build their own communities, and we do not want to disrupt that.
*The player may decide to play on the new server instead of Famcraft and we lose players/members/ friends.
*Negative mentions of other servers are well.. negative. We do not like to see rude or negative comments about anything here, and that even includes other servers.
We try to offer enough fun at Famcraft that there is no need at all to discuss other servers in chat or on our forum or Mumble.
Most players have other types of communication available to them, such as Skype. You can of course share all the info about other servers you like thru non-Famcraft sources.
