Rollback - 1/15/2016
« Opened on January 15, 2016, 03:13:44 PM (Edited January 15, 2016, 03:17:38 PM) »
The 1.8 survival server located at survival.famcraft.com was rolled back approximately 18 hours. This rollback effected both player data and map data.

Unfortunately, last night- Jan 14, 2016,  the cooling system went out on the server  hardware that houses Famcraft survival. As a result, the server overheated causing some date to be corrupted.
This was not within out control. The hardware is located at a data-center so we were not aware of the issue until the server crashed. Sadly, there was nothing we could have done to prevent this. All of our hardware is well maintained and cared for. It was a very random occurrence. Even though it was out of our control, we are very sorry for any and all inconvenience caused to our players.

We do take backups frequently throughout the day and we do have good backups from immediately BEFORE the crash. We did not realize the extent of the damage to map and player files until this morning (1/15/2016). As soon as we noticed there was more damage than we had anticipated, we restored the server using the most recent backups (again, from immediately before the crash).

This means anything done on the survival.famcraft.com 1.8 survival server between the hours of approximately 7:00 pm central 1/14/2016 and 12:00 pm (noon) on 1/15/2016 was lost. ONLY things done between these hours should be effected.

If you built anything really large during this time and you find that it is now gone, please contact an admin and we will see if we can restore the area- we will try- but we can't make any promises.

This is NOT  a common occurrence on Famcraft. We will be 4 years old  in April and  we have never seen a rollback of this magnitude before (and hopefully will not again!). This was random hardware failure and not something anyone should worry about happening frequently.

Again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you all for your patience. You are all amazing players and we know we're lucky to have you.
