Unofficial Famcraft Theme Song
« Opened on September 27, 2015, 06:02:17 PM »

I've been singing this to myself for several months now. Decided to share.

This goes with the music of Petula Clark's 1965 hit "Downtown." Google it. No, not the other one, the version sung by Petula Clark. Ok, heard the music now? Proceed.

When you feel weird and life is making you weary, you are welcome here:
 Famcraft!
Get paid for jobs (just read the signs at the lobby where you first appear).
Famcraft!

Now listen to the chorus of the players "welcome back"-ing.
'Port yourself to /home, you can escape the mobs attacking.

No griefing here...

Our creepers won't bust your block.
You can set up at the mall, sell some stuff and restock.

Here on Famcraft!
Lift signs on every floor!
Famcraft!
I'll /cunlock the door.
Famcraft!
Come and request a tour how...

Staff's always near to keep us all in good cheer, and offer help as well.
Famcraft!
If you're in deep, they may remind you to sleep (and I mean I.R.L.).
Famcraft!

And you may find someone to mine
And build and join a clan with,
Set Precious Stone permissions, PVP, and plot and plan with.

^Hugs all around.

Let's /warp to that Stargate hall.
We'll visit wilderness spots, and attractions, and all of it...

Famcraft!
Come see my Wasteland base.
Famcraft!
(Best wear your pumpkin face.)
Famcraft!
I've found no better place, wow!

Famcraft!
I've gotta Feed The Beast.
Famcraft!
Just half an hour, at least.
Famcraft!
By balance increased by ten thou...

Famcraft!
Type "/back" if you get dead.
Famcraft!
Your stuff's there - with your head!
Famcraft!
I don't want to go to bed now!

I love the in-line rhymes and the awareness of the number of syllables in each line. The number of lines in each stanza is consistent, too. I love all of it! Just one suggestion: most songs have a chorus; maybe what you could do next is write a chorus and put it in between every stanza. I absolutely love it!
<Thoatt> I was very much into fluid dynamics
(SrMod: ~Rowan) but your opinion on that was... fluid?
<Thoatt> up to ferrofluid in magnetic field dynamics
(SrMod: ~Rowan) that sounds like an attractive field
(SrMod: ~Rowan) I'm going hard on the puns right now XD

Thanx all :D

The original song uses the approach where the part that sounds like a chorus has different words each time. I don't know if it still counts as a chorus. The meter and music change several times in the song, but in a repeating and related way, so it's almost more like a piece of classical music with a complicated construction even though it's a short, upbeat pop song.

When I riff off a song, steal the music and write new lyrics like this, I also try to keep some of the same word sounds and word relations, so the lyrics sound similar to the original, even when my parody/homage is about something totally different. (Like I rewrote Billy Joel's love song  "For the Longest Time" so it's about waiting in traffic on the freeway).

In this case the song is closer to the original: it's all about an exciting and wonderful place! Thanks all for making it so great there!

:D
