It would appear that you have a slightly strange and perhaps highly irregular minecraft icon.

The only solution that I see fit would be to embrace such a 'misfortune' and move on with your everyday life in a new, materialized attitude towards such abnormalities such as this.

Are you using the magic launcher? That could be it... But I strongly recommend "down" grading to Windows 7 to improve your Minecraft icon experience.

honestly, minecraft runs best on XP. Its design might not be the best, but it is faster that windows 7 or 8. If you want to change the icon to anything go to Roaming (%appdata%) then go to .minecraft, then assets, then virtual, then legacy, then icons, then change the images in them.

This icon is from the LWJGL, a java library that minecraft uses. Not sure why it's shown as your mc icon though.

Edit: I've done some research, and I guess it's there if the cdn that mojang uses (amazon) is having issues.

I do agree that Minecraft runs better on Windows XP than it does on Windows 8, but Windows 7 was optimized much better than XP and runs most everything smoother. I actually switched from XP to 7 about a month ago and I've seen significant performance enhancement.

Thanks for the GOOD answer that makes sense. You guys are silly. I'm not going to waste money on downgrading to Windows 7 or below. That'd be insanity.
